Like many folks here, I have an anonymous Gmail account that I use for hobbying purposes.
Since my iPhone is always locked when I'm not using it that is the ONLY device I ever use or check my Gmail account on. (surreptitiously of course).

If you logged onto any other google app, like YouTube, Picasa, etc.., it can, and may, add your full google profile including access to gmail.

I would check my settings for sharing and syncing for the wireless, iPad, and Google app to be safe.  Sometimes if a setting gets changed by accident your devices, accounts, and carrier do not behave in the same way they normally do.  I would scrap that handle/username (incase she googles it), make a new email, and buy a mobile USB modem.  You can get the USB's on pay as you go now, so you will only pay for the amount of data you use.  Whenever you access any accounts connected to the hobby use that separate port.  For the small amount of money and effort you will be 110% separated from your devices in the house.  Not a bad insurance plan, plus since the USB is mobile you can use it in your home, as well as everywhere else being completely isolated.  Good luck!

iCloud is one of the LEAST secure ways of handling your data imaginable.  When I bought my iPad, the apple store employee tried to automatically set it up to be connected to the cloud.  All apple employees are trained to do this, because Apple is proud of their iCloud technology and it's the "way of the future" or whatever.  But completely unsecure.  Do I want my appointments I've entered into my calendar, my private contacts, and my personal emails flying around in the air between my devices via Apple's servers?  Hell no!! Any devices that share an Apple ID and are synced to the cloud will run the risk of sharing information in an unsecure way.  If I were you I would delete anything she could google to lead back to your extracurricular activities if she gets curious, remove iCloud syncing from both devices, and also, stop using the Gmail app and start using an app called "Secure Gmail" instead, that way if you ever hand your phone to someone unlocked there is an additional layer of security to access your email.

I use another service but I always delete all my hobby emails after I read them.  

I do use Google voice and so far nothing happen yet (knock on wood )  I don't use cloud services and I do check setting make sure is not sync with any of my devices

Something similar happened to me. I have a gmail account that I only use on my phone, and I always clear history and delete the account from the login page after I'm done. My wife grabbed my phone to check her account. She typed Gmail.com into the browser and Safari briefly displayed the screen I had been on before going to the login page, despite having take the above steps.  

Personally, I would NEVER use the same service for both emails. I use Yahoo mail strictly as my anonymous email. That way, I can never confuse the accounts or respond to/from the wrong Gmail account - or in your case, have prying eyes see that there's an additional account.

I have noticed that if I log into my home WiFi network from my blackberry, all of my contact info from the device is loaded to the gmail accounts received on the device so that they appear in the accounts from any other device including my PC. The problem is with WiFi sharing of all gmail info. I use yahoo and never connect to my home network.

I also use a gmail account for my private hobby emails but I only access it from my phone via a private browsing window in a browser.  That way the google apps on my android phone do not know that I am logging into a gmail account.

Better clear your history in case she sees the history pop up. Also look into your iCloud account to see if you can get your gmail off of that. Also make sure the history is actually deleted, especially any sites you use Mr. Puzzled on.  

Never trust them. They can and will tie your email addresses and devices together along with IP addresses. Also stay away from Google APPS as agreeing to their terms of service you are giving them additional info about you.

Every move you make is being shadowed by invisible data bots that track all of your activities which are then used by marketers to sell you things and to send you things that will make your life supposedly "easier".

Thank you for being forever vigilant, Sweetheart, but with GOOGLE, WE ARE ALL SCREWED! I have a hushmail account, but if you don't encrypt the message, it is the same as posting unprotected. Yes, I have a gmail account, and I have considered google chrome to go with it, and regular google, and now they have this handy google chromecast.  The NSA and Obama have us by the gonads, so don't even think you can evade big brother!
One alternative is to get a VPN account in Romania, but once you elevate your personal footprint on the internet and cloud, you become vulnerable to government agencies. You have an extra layer of protection but then you expose yourself to 100 fold more scrutiny. Bullshit? check it out!
Once you strike a keyboard, it is recordable and leaves a physical track. There is no safe anything, I will continue to  correspond on the board, and TER is one of the best, but when the federal government wants these to subpoena these transcripts, they are gone. EOM
 

I almost made the same mistake, my wife bought me an iPad for my birthday, we both have iPhones, if you use the iCloud you share all data on all devices. That is a big feature that people like, especially sharing photos . I turned the sharing off and will ONLY use the iPad for legit purposes, NO hobby related. I actually took a pic of a provider with my iPhone and it instantly was in the photos of the iPad . Luckily I got home and deleted it before she saw it!
As far as privacy goes and the internet, forget about it, the government can and will subpoena your account anytime they want to. I have hushmail, but unless the person on the other end has hushmail, and it is encrypted, it does'nt help.
You could get a VPN account, but when you do big brother puts you on a higher alert than if you just use regular email.

Please for your own good dont hobby with your personal email/phone. Buy another extra cheap phone for hobbying. And if you really insist on email have a secret email account for email away from your family. Play safe.

The problem is that you are using Apple devices. They confuse the IDs of people in the same house/apartment. I get my daughter's Facebook messages all the time.
