Like many folks here, I have an anonymous Gmail account that I use for hobbying purposes.
Since my iPhone is always locked when I'm not using it that is the ONLY device I ever use or check my Gmail account on. (surreptitiously of course).
My wife also has a Gmail account and quite some time ago I downloaded the Gmail app onto our iPad so she can check her email without having to log onto the computer every time. She's been using this app for over a year.
Now, I have NEVER checked MY Gmail account from the iPad, only my iPhone. The only thing these two devices share is our wifi network and my apple ID. I'm not sure which of these may have caused the problem.
Anyway, last night, as usual, my wife grabs the iPad to check her email as we sit down to watch some TV after the kids have gone to bed. When she says to me:
"who's Mr. Puzzled?"
My heart sank and part of me began to panic, but I played it calm and said: "what do you mean?"
"It says here that an email account belonging to Mr. Puzzled has been added."
"hmmm... let me see." I said as I took the iPad from her and investigated.
I couldn't believe it. When she logged on to the Gmail app on the iPad it flashed a huge notification that MY gmail account had been added to app!
Now let me be clear, I have NEVER checked my gmail on this device to say nothing of "authorizing" gmail to do this!
What's worse, is that I could see that all of my correspondence had been downloaded onto the device. Luckily, my wife never saw these before she asked me what was going on.
I quickly deleted the app and then reloaded it again so my wife could check her email, but when I reloaded the app, THERE IT WAS AGAIN! so I deleted it again and logged my wife into her Gmail through the safari browser.
She asked what that was all about and I calmly said that the kids must've done something to the iPad and thankfully she dropped it.
I'm furious and scared at the same time.
Does anyone have any idea how my private anonymous email ended up on that device?
