I lived in Phily for a time, long enough to know the pace.
Betty is correct in her thinking. She is very on target and honest. Love that about people.
Yet, you may want to take many suggestions from here and make a comfortable combo of them.
I have some personal experience from living there, which may or not, be helpful.

I notice that a few areas in the US constantly have the same problems. I can only relate to the 3 areas that I have had this problem - BWI, Philadelphia and now NYC, although, NYC has a more unique situation.
BWI-ers and Philly-ers are constantly posting beneath my posts in DC, if you come to our area, it would be worth it for you. NYC doesn't need to ask, there are girls in and out of that city constantly.
For the first part of my pre-booking time everything goes great, booked nicely, the schedule finely comes together... then, like clockwork, maybe the night prior, or so, cancel emails galore... until the schedule is nothing but 1 or 2 clients.
Now, here is where my paranoia comes in: could it be, that it is ladies, getting their clients to call and make an appointment with visiting providers with no intention of ever meeting us travelling girls? Fill-up our schedule with this, then cancel last minute almost ensures that we will cancel our visit. The local girls would know the times that are most busy, right? I am not saying this is what is happening, but when it is the same areas we read about over and over with the same problem, it leaves me wondering.
I hope that this is not the case, but what does anyone else think about this theory? betty_snj? Anyone?

Unfortunately, guys are not always as considerate as they should be.
By the same token, I do know of one lady that had that happen to her. That is the exception not the rule though.
I don't tour but I've heard some ladies who do ask for deposits. Maybe the gentlemen would be less likely to cancel and would be more serious about keeping the date if they put a small amount down. And if they cancel some of your expenses would be covered.
I had one bad experience with a provider ("Sweet" Melissa of SC) who took everyone's deposit (mine was $$$, what an idiot I was) and cancelled the tour and never gave the money back.
And before this, her reputation was as impeccable as they come.
I've learned my lesson. It's not worth the risk for me anymore to leave a deposit, no matter how small.

Except with someone who has cancelled on me before. Then I might consider it.

I was thinking the same thing this morning. I do have established incalls in different areas...NJ/NY/PA/MD and here is my personal experience with each location:
NYC:
every girl who goes or lives in Manhattan knows that the lifestyle of the guys is set in a different pace. Everything is fast fast and their schedules either opens at the last minute or they have unexpected meetings or delays. Is the NYC way and either guys are calling trying to change appts or you get same days cancelations. Very common and happens a lot. When I first started to go to the city, I was very frustrated with the last minute cancelations. Let's face it, 350 for the hotel room, parking, meals and cancelations do not mix very well. But, with time I developed some loyal guys, who books me every time I'm in town so, now, if I have 2 or 3 cancelations during my stay it doesn't affect me much.
BWI:
ohhh I love my BWI guys. Is the place I have the highest number of repeated clients (outside NJ) and the guys I see are truly a pleasure to be with. Soon I put my BWI schedule out, I get the familiar mail addresses on my mailbox and I seldom have a cancelation there. Usually I have to extend my stay to accomodate all my favorites. I even dragged NYVanessa to the area for our summer doubles and now she also loves going there. Maybe we can do a 3 girls BWI oral special ??? I've heard you are good too, so we can combine forces and have a blast ![]()
Philly:
my home base is right across the bridge to Philly, I do get lots of Philly guys coming to NJ to meet with me so, one day, I decided to make a trip there. Well, after tons of mails of guys suggesting where to stay and saying "I would LOVE to see you" I got the bookings and all and, like you, the night before the cancelations started to show up in my mailbox. I didn't think twice, I called the guys I had booked and transfered the appts to my NJ location and it was all good. Nor harm done for me, but I can see why the travelling girls gets upset on the philly board.
KOP:
King of Prussia is 15 minutes from center city (Philly), a location lots of travelling girls pick for their tours. The first 3 times I went there, I had tons of cancelations, one after the other and I truly believe was someone trying to scared me away from the area. With time, I developed a steady clientele and KOP is now one of my incalls locations. I think you should give the philly guys another chance but go to KOP instead.
On your take for the motives of the cancelations I would say, yes anything can happen, from a local provider who doesn't want you in her area asking her johns to call and book in exchange for freebies, to local agencies who wants you out, to johns trolling for their favorites and thinking if they book/cancel they are doing their darlings a favor.
But also shit happens for the guys who booked you with serious intentions but had a last minute thing that makes them cancel.
I think all comes with the territory and is part of being in the business we are. I've met some nice girls and some nasty ones.
I've meet great guys and just a handful of the ones we should pass on.
My take is...be persistent, if you like an area and you see tons of girls doing well there, if you have the skills you can do well too. Is just a matter of time until you establish your own clientele.

If it were truly other ladies that wanted to freeze you out, why would they bother to cancel at all. You would suffer more if they let you incur the expense of coming to NYC and ended up with a bunch of no shows.
believe or not, some people get a kick from canceling at the last minute. When it happened to me in KOP I could almost hear (or see) the cynical smirk in the face of the guy calling with the most stupid excuse you can ever imagine. The tone of his voice gave away his agenda.
but wondering if that was a possibility.
As for why cancel, my theory is that this is actually clients of ladies, and the bad side would be that I would blacklist those clients on the ladies boards. Or, because they know the nature of the biz here in NYC - as betty_snj says, this is a last minute town, if I did show up, maybe I would still end up booked.
That is what happened in PA - the other day, I missed my train in the morning, so ended up staying in Philly one other day... lo - 3 other clients happened! If I had left, as planned, I would have missed that, I was leaving to ward off losing money for my room.
For fun, I checked my voicemail at 202... guess what? There were 3 calls from gents interested in meeting tomorrow in NYC... guess they don't read the boards.
I already booked my hotel for May 1st and 2nd in NYC - using my hotel points, so no loss if everyone cancelled
and a great opportunity for me to make it up to YankeeMike and the other gent with the free hour offered.

It's highly unlikely ladies are having their clients intentionally do this to you. Unless you can prove this is what happened, it's unwise to even suggest that you would blacklist clients on the ladies board.
If a provider asked me to book and cancel on someone, I'd laugh in her face and never see her again. But that's just me. There are obviously guys on the board who would sell their souls for their ATF.
I think you are misunderstanding my post. I was simply wondering if this was happening, since there is a good number of visitors who complain of the same problem over and over again. The pattern being to cancel the day before, with no real valid excuse.
I prefer to get a cancellation over a no-show, anyday
