I'm at the hotel in midtown -- moved up here from my place in the West Village... Grand Central Station is completely closed, as are almost all the shops and restaurants. A 24 hour CVS is about the only thing open.
42nd Street, Times Square almost totally empty... weird!
Everyone please stay safe. Hope to be home on Monday...
... I live a few blocks away from one of the evacuation zones, so that's understandable. It's just soooo weird!
Normally (I live a bit elevated from the ground floor of my nabe, but enough to hear traffic and foot traffic/conversations) on a brunch morning it's buzzing and live! On weekdays... construction or film shoots!
Anyone want to share their (please of course keep your neighborhoods cloaked for privacy) experiences?
It was so abnormal I did not m*st*rb*t* .... and that's also abnormal....
just spoke with a friend down in nc....about 6" of rain...minor power problems and he lives on the coast...
was at the local supermarket...lady in front of me looking for batteries..store clerk said no more c or d's left....lady turned to me and said she was stocking up for her vibrator. now that is planning.

It's the anticipation of this force of nature that's lumbering towards our area that totally crazy.
I grew up in Florida, a few miles from the beach. so I've done this a few times before. This storm, by Florida standards, is not incredibly powerful, but it's powerful enough. The real unknown here and the thing that makes me a bit edgy is how this storm will interact with our city. We've built up quite a major metropolis here, but mother nature is a force to be reckoned with and we 'might' all see the surreal pictures of lower Manhattan underwater within 24 hours.

... in a land with a monsoon season and the only precaution we took was to bring in our drying laundry and close the patio and windows.
Memories! Thank you for writing....
