Hey Guys & Dolls

( Your input is greatly appreciated )

I am in the process of moving my work studio from the UWS to Midtown

I am not sure what would be a better location for commuters  

Midtown East or Midtown West.  ( in the 30s or 50s )  

I have missed a few appointments because my work studio is above Lincoln Center

 
Any Suggestions?

Coming in from NNJ, Midtown West is easier driving in, as is parking.  That said, I've never had a problem with the East Side, either.  So...

East side, west side, all around the town

(Apologies to Blake and Lawlor.  I'm sure someone can do better than the above.)

I know I don't speak for the majority, but as long as it's accessible from midtown, I'm fine with most neighborhoods in Manhattan: North, South, East, West.  Narrowed down to midtown E-W, I'd say there's not much difference in the 'middle' (3rd to 7th or 8th) but I do have to think harder about the extremes (1st, 2nd and 9th, 10th) and then it depends on where I am and where I have to be afterwards

My flat is on the UWS, my plan is to rent a working space... So I am making this search more about my clients that work in Midtown ( financial district ) clients that commute from NNJ & CT.
And my clients I have yet to meet.  Besides I really do need to separate my two worlds.

Financial District is lower Manhattan (even further south than Chelsea), not Midtown.  Easy to get and from Midtown, but for those who navigate and schedule appointments :-) by named neighborhoods, don't tell them Midtown if you are in the Financial District.  

Different maps organize the neighborhoods a bit differently.  Midtown is 34th-59th.  Some maps to Midtown East and Midtown West.  As I said above, I am fine with any "central" Midtown spot from 3rd-7th and can strain my schedule if I have to get over to 1st or 10th.  I'm linking to map that breaks it down to a central Midtown and Clinton/Hell's Kitchen on the West and Sutton/Beekman/Tudor on the East and emphasizes my distinction

I am visiting and am planning on staying in chelsea for a couple nights out of my trip..is this a tottally out of the way area for all you midtowners?

Chelsea is adjacent to midtown, and would present no problems here.  In fact, I've made a number of visits with ladies located in Chelsea...nothing more needs to be said.

It depends on where the client is coming from.  If he's coming from NJ, then West Side is best.  If from LI, East Side is best.  Since I come from the northern 'burbs, it makes no difference at all.  As for Lily's question about Chelsea, the further down town you go, the less convenient it is.  The only good thing about Chelsea is the parking is cheaper than mid town.

looking to accommodate 'existing' clients or hitting the 'new' clients. Depending on where they are coming really is a factor. If you're advertising 'in the city' and the gentleman are already there, being east, west north or south won't matter. But if you get a lot of men coming in from outside the city, again, staying near the tunnels has it's bonus' and without question Midtown West. There really is no correct answer. But with the rent the way it is in the city, make sure you pick an area YOU want to live if not the UWS.  Midtown remember is crazy with tourists, probably the most populated with them of any other place in the city.  

But bottomline, if gentlemen want to see you, they will without a doubt come wherever you are without question.

I find the majority of my clients prefer the Midtown East area, but as previous replies have mentioned, those coming in from NJ find Midtown West to be incredibly convenient. I'd say either one would be a good choice, if not somewhere in the middle! Either way, your location will be convenient to many.
