I don't know the details as to why but the fact remains that Poppy had been banned from TER by Staff in another username. Let's be honest. I'm sure many banned members have come back under a new username. The fact remains that Poppy got caught. Yes, I took down freebird's thread. Let's move on.

Hmm. let's see now. Who would be happy to see Poppy gone? Hmmmm...

I know I'm relatively new to posting but something does not smell right.  If he's been banned, and I assume for a good reason, why is everything being done so covertly?

Besides, shouldn't the rest of us who don't have as extensive a history on the boards at least get an inkling of what happened so we don't make the same mistake?

If PoppyLI, whom I only began to know recently, did something wrong, so be it.  If the TER powers that be felt that was the appropriate punishment, PoppyLI can deal with it.  But if what's being done is right, why is it so secret?

And now threads are being pulled down?

When did this board become the fu*king CIA?

I think that as a paying member, I also deserve an explanation as to why the thread was removed. What was the justification? Thanks!

For the simeple reason that you guys are going to fill the board with this topic and it's not going to change anything.

As I wrote, I don't know why Poppy got banned as 1way but he did get banned. Fill the board with this topic if you like. I won't stop you until and unless Staff tells me to do so. Just be realistic about it.

being very fair in regard to allowing these posts to continue until they burn out on their own accord. No name calling is being done and most of us realize that the posts are not going to change anything. Poppy has accepted his fate, and this is the way he wants it. Santino has agreed to tell inquiring minds what they want to know, at his discretion of course. I too know the story, so if you want to PM me that's O.K. also. Maybe I can take some of the load off Santino as he will most likely get bombarded. Let's keep the posts sane and friendly guys!

For example, I believe it's against TER policy to have discussion threads on banned providers (to stop her from getting free publicity when her name being mentioned).

So, if one day a poster asks about a banned lady, instead of deleting the entire thread, the moderator could change the subject line to instead read "Edited (See note)". Inside he could explain it is a violation to discuss banned providers. All the rest of the replies could be deleted.

That way, the original poster and everyone else can see the rule or reason and prevent it from happening again.

This issue has been discussed several times. Let's keep a few things in mind here....

Even if you are paying for a membership(as I do) it is still a privilege not a right to post here. Only the owner of the site has the right to be here and that wasn't Poppy nor any of us as far as I know.

Just because someone is a popular poster doesn't mean that everything this person has done or does do is the greatest thing in the world.

The sins which are being paid for now are past sins....which just followed people to their current re-incarnation....they had no right to be here at all.....they got away with it for awhile it has caught up to them and now they are gone again.

The reasons and details have nothing to do with anything most of you have seen or heard of or had anything to do with....so it really doesn't matter. It was a result of past sins/indiscretions that recently came back to light.

It has nothing to do with you, me or Thirsty so don't bother asking. If they wanted to inform you they would...it is their decisions just live with it. Keeping up posting about it will just result in more posts being removed.

Let's move on and wish all well.........

an explanation as to why my thread was removed? Why has this one been allowed to stay? We pay for the membership which includes the privelege to post and it seems only fair to understand why it was taken down. Don't forget I was moderated once already when all I really did was ask a question, truly innocently. I dont appreciate being treated like a child and being told that others know what's better for me than I do. And I'm not referring to your comments Junior. I realize you're trying to help.
Thanks!

thank you.

It appears that PoppyLI's fate was sealed - for good or for bad - a long time ago.  So, as the closing of the old Burns & Allen used to be:  say good night, Gracie.

"Good night, PoppyLI."

Good luck and be well, PoppyLI.

1way, but didn't realize they were one and the same hobbyist!

Good luck to you!
I'm sure we'll see each other on our two-wheelers!

You were a great contributor as 1WAY and lately as Poppy.

Too bad about the guilt by association rap!....or whatever led to your original dismissal.

Cheers!

What most here fail to understand is that this site belongs to the owner so he and only he has the right to set forth the rules. Even if without explaining why certain things are done. No one ever said that this site is ruled by democracy.

His site his rules and he owes no one, not even the paying members an explanation for anything he does!

Speaking for myself, NOT TER, I find it funny that posters on different boards (not just NYC) often express righteous indignation when a post is rejected because I (acting for TER) have trampled on their first ammendment rights. Often, when posts are rejected, common sense applies. We are not going to let you post that Sexy Sally gave you an STD anymore than we are going to allow Sally to post your name alleging that you ripped her off.

NYers are a bit more aggressive in pursuing information than some of the other board communities on TER. I try to be as open with you as possible. On the other hand, I personally don't feel the need to explain to you every action I take when it comes to changing someone's moderation status or deleting a post. That's why I have instituted the "Mind your own business" rule. My mailbox is a lot easier to clear since I have done this. ;)

Another point is that a paid membership doesn't buy you extra priveleges. I'm sure that TER is grateful for your financial support but don't come to me and say, "I'm a paid member. I shouldn't be moderated!" Sorry, it doesn't work that way. :(

and having a thread removed or getting moderated without any explanation as to why, is what I was questioning. It's not the removal of the thread or having been moderated, but simply requesting a little decent communication as to why. If you cant understand the need to explain your actions, you're not being "as open as possible".

Here's one I still dont get. Last week or the one before, there was a thread on the Vancouver board stating that you were sitting in as the usual moderator was away for the weekend. I realized that it must have been a very inactive baoard as the one page went back a full month or more on topics. Now, hangin with Bill an Junior promped me to post "Gee Thirsty, do ya think you will be able to handle the extra pressure doing this board also? Well, got a couple of yucks and then whammo, the thread disappeared. What the fuck? No sense of humor in Canada, eh? I didn't bother to question that removal, but I still dont know why??

Again, speaking for myself not TER. If I moderate you, I'm happy to give YOU an explanation. If you get banned by TER, IMHO YOU are entitled to an explanation. If YOU choose to share this explanation b/c with your good friends on the board, that's your prerogative. I don't owe and I won't give an explanation to the entire board community. It is the nature of the hobby that people want the behind the scenes information. I couldn't do this job effectively if I shared secrets as quickly as some of the board members do.

Having said that, my PM Sent folder would show that I don't leave questions unanswered.  Generally, I just moderate people just long enough to get their attention. I wait for the member to contact me but the explanation is available.

Regarding the post on the Vancouver board, I didn't remove it. The regular mod (pluged) must have removed it when he returned.
