I'm really tired of these Discussion Board schoolmarms, endlessly disciplining VIP members who use aliases.  What use is there coming down on those who "hide behind an alias," as if alias postings were somehow less reliable?  That makes no sense.  You can use the same user name to review and to post, tell lies all day long in both, or even be LE!  99% of supposedly "legitimate" AMP reviewers are mamasans/Korean gangsters/etc., and TER doesn't touch them.  There's nothing whatsoever about connecting reviews with Discussion Board posts that assures any kind of reliability.  Wake up, your own "legitimate" reviewer name is a made-up name!  Besides, this Board is about HOBBYING, not Sunday School!  Duhhhhhhh!

after having some time in on this board, we are familiar with the "core" members who consistently post.  It is based on that familiarity that a level of trust (or distrust)is established in that other's person's opinions and reviews.  Would you not agree that you can better formulate an opinion of someone's posts/reviews (whether positive or negative is immaterial) when you are aware of their body of work?  Would you not also agree that someone who posts a limited number of times under an alias, who under that alias does not have a body of posts/reviews, would be more difficult to judge and trust, or at least form an opinion of?

Don't misunderstand me.  I am NOT in favor of getting rid of aliases and some TER members cry way too much over it.  Aliases, when used properly, can be fun or used to make suggestions w/out worrying about someone getting pissy.  But if use an alias, don't expect your opinions to carry as much weight when we don't know where it's coming from.  Unless we know who you are, it just doesn't mean as much.

So what do we get from this post:  both sides should just stop bitching and play within the very rules that they were given when they joined.

Duhhhhhhhh!

I've had hundreds, and hundreds.  Lawyer whines about this ALL the time as do a few others.

This argument is older than some of the senile posters on this board!

Get a life whiners!
