I haven't been active in quite a while.

However, last month I searched for a stripper on Backpage to help a friend set up his brother's bachelor party. I called about 4 agencies, got some info from 3 and one didn't answer so I left my first name and a cell number.

The following night I get a phone call from a very angry, aggressive guy saying he knows who I am, where I live, that I have to pay for "an escort" that I ordered but never followed through on and I had 2 hours to get to Staten Island and drop off $870 cash with his "driver". I hung up.

An hour later I get another threatening call saying, "The police will be at your house", "we're swearing out a criminal complaint", "we"ll mess up your life with your family," We'll come to your job", "we have a years worth of your phone records showing how many calls you made to escort services", etc.  After trying to explain I had no idea what they were talking about, I hung up."

Then I realized it was all bullshit! I only had my new phone number a few weeks, hadn't many any calls in years, so it was all a bluff. I turned my phone off that night and they continued to leave messages, and texts over night and finally stopped calling - texting the next day, not to be heard from again.

Has anyone heard about this extortion racquet? I sure hope no other guys get sucked into this. I could see someone calling whichever agency that was, and getting blackmailed for money. They just wait for a guy to call, assume it's not his very first call and then blackmail him. And if he goers to Staten Island, now they know what he looks like, have his license number, etc. and then keep hitting him up every week or month. Could get ugly or worse, dangerous.

Anyone ever hear about this or have something similar happen?

Tell him to " suck your dick" ! Sounds like a moron , I wouldn't worry ..save the messages..and I doubt the police will come , however if they do the phone caller will be arrested ....

It does happen.

It happened with me and an Indy provider. She demanded $1000 for some session that I never booked
I never booked - and i never saw her before. In my case, my office address is known so she showed up but security wouldn't let her up. She emailed a few more times and then the harassment stopped. I presume she just moved on to another target.  

Turning back to your situation, i believe that those individuals will never use the police because they would have to implicate themselves in illegal activity. (Ie, how did they come about those facts?). Like the previous responder said, the vm's would show they are harassing you.

The thing that can be a nuisance, and potentially serious, is if they inform your SO that you're cheating/seeing escorts. Unfortunately, this risk is a cost of doing business. We can try to minimize it but its always a risk. Someone could try to extort you even if he/she has no proof.

No because they refered to the call I made the night before specifically saying I "called between 5;30 & 6:30 last night" because that and my phone nimber 's really the only information they had.

You have been away for awhile , plus you have plenty of reviews ...get a new number ..nothing will happen ..could he a bf of a girl etc ....just make a folder of calls , agency ..save the messages etc ....get another number  ditch the phone ...really what will they do ?? Nothing !!!!!!!
