Best boroughs to stay in when touring
Would love providers & clients input as far as the best places the stay in neighborhood wise for an upcoming tour.
Also do you prefer Airbnb’s or hotels? No wrong answers here & please do not mention hotel names :]Outer boroughs don't work for most mongers, or are the realm of AMPs and other low-end providers.
Here's a Manhattan Neighborhood Map for those who aren't familiar with same. This map shows a pinkish "coffee mug" shape for Midtown. Many users consider Midtown to be much bigger, encompassing many of the smaller neighborhood names close by:
maybe 34th St. to 59th St. x 8th Ave. to 1st Ave.
or maybe 14th St. to 59th St. x 8th Ave. to 1st Ave.
.
People can quibble about boundary details, but if you tell someone "Midtown" they at least know that you're not in Tribeca ("Triangle Below Canal St.") and you're not in Washington Heights.
.
Ask more Qs if you've got 'em.
Midtown yes, but Midtown East, and not Times Square/Theatre District area , IMHO. West close to 5th okay, otherwise east of 5th. Close to Grand Central, away from tourist crowds (hopefully returning).
From the main page of the NY Discussion board, use the Search button to find prior discussions about "best places" and such. I often reply to such Qs with a subject line of content of "Neighborhood Map". Because the search function is broken, just search "Neighborhood" and Author "impposter" and you'll get many threads on "where to stay". NOTE: MOST OF THE INFO WILL BE PRE-COVID but, I hope, still relevant.
.
East side vs West side; Uptown vs Downtown; Manhattan vs Brooklyn; etc. vs etc.. Ask more Qs if you've got 'em.
.
Good luck!
