If she follows through on her threats, at the very least, expose her here, and on any other boards where she advertises.  Also, at this point, you should be alerting all those hobbyists you know via PM.   I would also do anything I could to find out personal details about her, and to prepare a defense in case she isn't bullshitting you.  Regardless, DO NOT PAY HER A GODDAMNED CENT!  She will be back for more if you do.  Most likely, you are not dealing with a legitimate provider, but more likely a pimp, or other sort of criminal.  Yet another example of why should avoid anyone who is not reviewed and approved here!

I am currently being blackmailed by a provider who I have never actually seen. I called this person and simply asked if she did a shorter time.  She then blew up at me.  She called me all sorts if names.  I just apologized rather than irk her any further.  She said she was going to ruin me.  

I then got a text from her.  I guess she did a reverse lookup on me and found my name.  Hell, I can't even google my own number and find my name.  She found my name, place of business, etc.  She said she's going to teach me a lesson and tell the world about me.  

At this point I would pay her fee just for this to stop.  But she's not replying to me.  She is definitely psychotic but, quite frankly, I'm scared.  She's not on TER but has some good reviews on another site.

I'm sure this has happened to someone. Any advice?

You should never, ever, have called her on a phone traceable to you.  If you're going to play safe you need a "burn phone" that's easy to get.  Please look this info up using the "search" function here.  Also be sure to get an anonymous e-mail address.

There are several services where you can pay to reverse look up a phone number.  If you use a regular phone number that you pay a monthly bill for on a major service provider, chances are very good that you can search the phone number and get a name and a billing address.  If you want to use a phone that is not traceable to you, you should get a prepaid cell phone.  It's more expensive, but consider that your insurance policy.

On the note of this particular issue, that is really scary and sad that she would do that.  It just goes to show you that in these times where everyone is desperate for money and willing to compromise on what is decent to do, there are some that just don't want to play by those rules.

Your best bet might not be to fight fire with fire, but maybe wait for a few days to have it blow over, and then not contact her again.

I went to the trouble of blocking her number and changing my phone number.  I'll also monitor the internet over the weeks to see if she makes good.  Rough experience.  I hear all of you on the "burn" phone.  Lesson learned.  Already have an anonymous email address.

IDk that this sounds like she is really blackmailing you /him as much as threatening to smear you and expose you.I think of blackmail as demanding money which he does not express rather that she is on a power trip which is very very scary indeed. I found myself leaning towards what Crazy had to say in that you should under no circumstances give anyone anything at all.Honestly she probably had pms and is a bi polar screwball. It would be helpful to other hobby guys to know who to avoid,.Maybe you can in fact warn them more specifically as to who it was , where it was and when it was so they might avoid the same issue.I am wondering if she ran out of steam or if this threatening behavior continues. I would get a new phone and number immediately .Some even have the option of not accepting calls and texts from certain callers that you list as not to accept. Good luck ,Lianna

I though I PM'd you already.  Not a BS post at all.  I've changed my number and took a few extra steps to block her.  I'm also monitoring the internet to see if she strikes again.  Fingers crossed.

First, thanks for the support and advice from you guys.  I changed my number and took some steps to avoid harassment online.  I did set up a Google alert and found that she has a YouTube channel where she mentions my name, phone number and place of business.  She also names other clients that cause her to go crazy.  

I sent in a privacy violation to YouTube and hopefully they will make her take it down.  I don't want to make her even crazier but I can't have this on the internet!  This whole thing makes me feel physically sick.  I think it's time to end the hobby for me.  I know this kind of harassment can't go on forever but it seems like it has.

A lot of you have been PM'ing and I appreciate it.  YouTube took down her video but I will continue to monitor the situation.  Among the other lessons learned one is to make sure you are monitoring your digital reputation and reacting accordingly.  In this case I don't think a "fight fire with fire" tactic would have worked.  Hopefully she is not incensed anymore.
