I have a question for the NY hobbyists that are pre-internet........

Since I started the hobby after the internet, I find that there is a lot of information available to me (thanks TER). I feel like I have a 90% percent success rate because of all the information that is out there.

BUT...What was it like before the internet? Was it all brothels? How did you find your favorite indy's?

There is a lot of experienced Hobbyists in NY so I that this post would be interesting.

It was brothels and calling agencies from ads in the yellow pages or various publications. No pics, so it was a total crapshoot. There were also no independent girls. TBD, and then
TER, have improved this hobby mightily!

2nd Ave Affair - 2nd ave between 51st and 52nd

Overture on 48th - Between 1st and 2nd

Also a place om 49th off 1st.

These places are long gone , but there were some great memories with some fine ladies.

In the early days it was incall places which I found thru various publications....No reviews so you're just going by pictures...

Most of my early experiences were non-GFE & relatively inexpensive...Though there were some exceptions like Kelli from Corporate Treasures, who was Pam Anderson's clone, she was absolutely stunning, IMHO...There was also a girl who went by name Ashley (something with a D for the last name??) who wasn't quite as pretty as Kelli, but her service was better.....

New York Action (or another publication -- I may have the name wrong), used to have reviews.  I found an ATF that way -- long since retired, though.

Ads in Screw were a major source in the old days.

BTW, contrary to an earlier post, there were plenty of independents.  They advertised in Screw.  No pix though.

NY Action picture ads were in fact much more reliable than the Village Voice, Cityvibe or eros-ny.com today.  "Red Rooster" reviews also described real sex acts you could buy from real girls.

Yep, it was a "rooster" review that, at the time, reviewed my future ATF.

My, that brings back fond memories. Beautiful ladies and a secret password. I occasionally drive Boston to PA, and always went through the city in those days. Is there anything to equal CT today?

One follow-up, Ashley D. was not from CT, she was independent...Actually, there's an odd story about her....She said she was Christina Angel, BUT from seeing CA in movies, it looked nothing like her...But she talked about the industry, & mentioned stars & directors, etc....I liked Ashley, but I don't think she was Chrisitina Angel....Does anybody else remember this Ashley?, she was around NY in mid 90's, I last saw her in 1996....

I used to use this local newspaper called "screw".  It had review of local girls.  Very helpfull.  I think the old man is still around and has a website for his publication.

Thje "old man" is Al Goldstein.  Here is the web site ...  http://www.screwmag.com/

I was not a hobbyist pre-internet but Screw magazine, I'm sure was a good source.

These places had large numbers of total babes.
I started hobbying in 1972 after seeing a Relaxation Plus ad in the back of a Manhattan taxi. An incall place with lingerie clad vixens on the mezzanine of the old Commodore Hotel at Grand Central.
15 to chose from, 5 to die for. Taj Mahal was an upgrade, just off 5 Ave and 47th or thereabouts.
It's a wonder my thang did not fall off then, or my ears get sucked inside out.
