I'm flying to NYC next month for a mini vacation. Does it matter which airport I fly inot - LaGaurdia or Kennedy?

I will be staying in midtown. Any help would be appreciated.

I prefer LaGuardia...it's a bit closer, smaller than JFK. A cab ride from LGA to midtown is about $35 with tip...from JFK it's $45 flat rate plus tip. Guess it depends where you are flying from and what kind of airfare deal you get

I do quite a bit of flying, Newark works best for me.

LaGuardia is the easiest and cheapest to use, ceteris paribus (all other things equal).

If the prices are comparable, there is only one solution. Fly into Newark. NJtransit trains stop at the airport train station. It's a one seat, two stop ride into Midtown Manhattan. It will cost you $4.50. That's a lot better than $30 to $40 dollars.

If you want to save some bucks, go for Newark, they have NJ transit service to manhattan then a subway.

for students.  it's as comfortable and clean as the plane and  takes about the same amount of time or less.  google jfk bus for regular rates and info.

LaGuardia is closer to Manhattan so generally easier.  With traffic, JFK can take forever, much longer than LaGuardia with traffic.  Of hours, either usually works just fine.

proximity to the airport. I very rarely leave my car at the airport anymore, last time I landed at 2am and found my car on blocks and all the tires off it. So now I have a car service take or meet me at airport and I usaully can spot them waiting for me better at Newark. Also I prefer to come into NY on late night flights which means no traffic and breeze right thru the tunnels. Home to airport late night is under 1/2 an hour without any agravation. Use all of them at different times and my experinces have always been better at Newark

i fly to jfk, ewr is just a pain and i hate continental airlines. lga is ok but many cities dont have flights to lga, on the other hand some cites ONLY have flights to lga.
another thing to concider when flying out of an airport is how large of a pesance the airline has there so if something goes wrong, you can standby on an earlier/latter flight or if need be they can get a plane out of the hanger to replace the one that failed. jfk is better than lga in this respect
