A serious issue

I just received an e-mail from  [email protected] about an upcoming visit by a provider. I don't believe that I ever signed up with this agency to receive these mailings. That nonwithstanding, I'm extremely concerned that there are at least 20 other cc e-mails addresses attached to the same message.
Now, I am aware that with an e-mail address, you can track down the sender and I don't appreciate having my e-mail address sent to others unless I send it.
I called AmourDuJour and let them know my concerns, but thought it necessary to let the NY Board know as well.
If I wanted to be a comedian, I could have just copied all the addresses on the e-mail and sent this to each of you individually.
Welcome your input and I'm using an alias with good reason!!

I understand your concern. Hard to say why you received this unsolicited e-mail. Sounds like spyware since it's hobbyist related. There could be multiple explanations.

My advise would be to tweak your e-mail filters, run a scan on your virus protection, perform a disc clean up, and obviously never open unrecognized spam.

I don't mean to infer that you aren't savvy enough to have thought of all of the above, but in all my time on TER, I have never received unsolicited e-mail regarding the hobby.

A good post. As they used to say on NYPD Blue, "Lets All Be Careful Out There!"

We realize this is a serious issue.  We realized the problem immediately and recalled the email.  Unfortunately, some had already been sent.  We have taken steps to fix the problem so this never happens again.  We apologize profusely to those that were affected.

I just read the original post three times. I may be obtuse, but I see no mention of the fact that the original poster said he had "signed up for their news letter!"

That being said, I do find it commendable that the agency in question acknowledged their error, and apologized for it. Shit happens!

I have never had anything to do with this agency so was stunned to receive the e-mail.

That quote was from HILL STREET BLUES, not NYPD BLUE.

Shame on you, Sir. Two demerits in your direction!

LOL.

Absolutely correct. I must have had a senior moment. Thanks for the correction. Lol.

I tought there is such a thing that CC and then BCC. If you send it with BCC than you cannot see other people's e-mail adress. Were you actually able to see and read the adress of another 19 people?
 Anyway,
   XOXO

I keep receiving a newsletter from an AMP in the Philippines I went to. It annoys me and no matter how many times I unsubscribe from it, I still get it!!

I don't mind deleting it from my work email (as I leave my laptop in the office), but I do mind when it gets around my Blackberry email filter (which comes home with me)...looks like I need to tweak that rule more.

Anyways, I try to call but due to the language barrier and +12 hour time zone difference, I can never get anything resolved...

Happy hobbying all!!
