If you want to come to South NJ and not have to travel too far from Philly, then you may want to try the Mount Laurel, Cherry Hill or Deptford areas. You can also try Atlantic City and see whether the casino crowd would like to have you visit there. A little further north is the Princeton area and Hightstown-Jamesburg.
A very popular area for gals to visit is known as The Meadowlands it is in the town of Secaucus ( I was not in charge of naming the towns) in North Joisey. There are many nice to very nice hotels, shopping, places to eat ect.
There's north, central, and south jersey, though if you're visiting Philly you can prob skip that area since the most common areas such as Cherry Hill, Mt. Laurel, etc could easily make the trip there. So here are some suggestions:
North NJ: Meadowlands/Secaucus area, Parsippany
Central NJ: Edison/Woodbridge, New Brunswick/East Brunswick, Somerset, Princeton
Some of those areas such as the Meadowlands and Edison/Woodbridge have multiple different places you can choose to stay at, and Princeton has a ton of hotels right off the Rt 1 area all near each other too. Just a matter of convenience and personal preference.

Definietly the Meadowlands (Secaucus/East Rutherford) in NNJ, you will also easily pick up NYC traffic as the city is only a 20 minute trip (from Times Square).
