Hi everyone,

Does anyone know how to get to Somerset, NJ via public transportation, i.e. NJ Transit, PATH?

Upon arrival, is there a taxi stand?

I'm coming from NYC.

Much Thanks,
CJ

Somerset is fairly isolated as far as public trans goes. There is no direct train line to the town, although you may be able to catch a NJTransit bus out of Port Authority that stops in the town.

Your best option would probably be taking a train out of Penn station to one of the neighboring towns (Bernardsville would probably be closest but I think any of the stops on the Gladstone Branch would be close enough) and then take a taxi to go to Somerset. Not all stations have taxis on standby, so I'd have one programmed into my phone just in case.

Most of the somerset Incall locations are easily accessible by NJ transit, Northeast corridor line to new brunswick or raritan valley line to bound brook. There are taxi stands at both the stations. Also there are some buses....which either stop at new brunswick station or at neilson towers in East brunswick.

You do not have a car.
It may just be easier and more convenient to rent a car for a day or ½ day if you can find a place that has ½ day rates.

Thank you

The best public transportation option is taking NJ Transit on the NE Corridor line to New Brunswick station (1 hr from NY Penn on local, about 40-45 min w/ express) and then grab a taxi down Easton Ave into Somerset. From the platform you'll exit off of walk down the steps and look to the right and there's a taxi stand and usually at least 3-4 to choose from so you should have no issues finding one.

Next best option is to take the Raritan Valley line to Bound Brook and catch a cab into Somerset. There's also plenty of taxi's usually available from there also, esp since there's a restaurant/bar nearby.

I'm quite familiar w/ the New Brunswick station as it's the form of transportation I take to get into NYC. You should have no problems with that station outside of perhaps some rush-hour traffic depending on when you arrive. If you plan on getting there between 4-7pm give yourself some extra time for the traffic.
