A police sting at a Route 75 motel resulted in 12 arrests. Details in the Hartford Courant. Be careful gentlemen.

which is why I always deal directly thru TER for my meetings, rather than online classifieds or boards.....

Here's the link to that newspaper story:

Don't they have better things to do? You know, like catching real criminals...

I wish I could see the ad, and I'd like to know if those guys had to be tricked into dialog like "Do you want sex for $__?", "Yes, I'll pay that".  Or if they just show up in response to a typical online escort ad and get arrested.

I ask because I was thinking of answering some ads on backpage.  I don't see how they can arrest someone for saying that they only want to pay this woman for a massage and her time and company, which could be true

You are miss-understanding the situation.  If you arrive at a sting, it is their job is to arrest you.  At that point, it is their word vs yours.  And they happen to be upstanding members of society.  Police officers no less!

Your job is to hire an expensive lawyer, get your name in the newspapers and go to court to PROVE you are innocent

Is there any fool proof way to avoid these. Obviously I can think of using outcall rather than incall since they can't come to your hotel to setup equipment to trap you. I can also think of using agencies rather than responding to backpage ads and not using cheap ones. Typically you get what you pay for. I wouldn't go for anything less than 300 hour. See if the agency and the provider has reviews. Any comments by veterans appreciated. I am new at this and still learning tricks of the trade.

From New England, Canada is not too far, if you go to Montreal, prostitution is Legal there. But its a hassle and you can't go there frequently because of distance. But not getting bust is most important to you, you should consider this, especially if you have a good career and don't want to ruin it. I heard your employer can fire you if you get busted like this. Is this true?

TER is a place where men and women have reputations based on their history in black and white.  For most of these people, strict screening is the rule.

Backpage is a place where lack of screening is accepted if not expected.  LE can get a lot more "bites" here.  I'm guessing one of their mottos might be...start with the low hanging fruit.

EROS used to advertise anyone who paid their fee.  They have only recently started doing "quality control" with regard to fakes/scammers.

This is all IMHO based on several years of hobbyland experience and reading what goes on.

I tried to warn people last week about a sting operation in rocky hill, but my post was rejected on the grounds that it contained "personal information".  The only personal information was the name of the hotel that the fuzz wuz watching.  CT mongers beware...this is becoming more common.
