Maybe our message about fakes is getting to them, the girls for lack of a better word, with the 401 area codes seem to be overtaking the Maine BP page with posts and reposts.. as in maybe they aren't getting the business they once did!
Hope so, maybe they'll stay away, or be more honest in their posts with valid pics and info! But it looks like they are reposting and trying anything to get some business! Shame on them for fooling us or trying again!
....I was told my first Maine visit that a lot of the girls on the Maine BP were form nearby northern parts of MA, RI and NH .... but just keep reviewing and don't give obvious fakes without business especially without doing research before calling/emailing first. You're right though I've never seen the Maine BP look so busy but 1/2 of them are from reposts (not just 401 area codes but 857 as well).
I'm interested in what a visit to a "fake" would involve? Getting ripped off??
For my part, I just avoid seeing anyone who advertises with an areacode other than 207. I've found that the out-of-state women with gorgeous websites charge more than I can afford, and fake or not, I don't have any interest in the more mundane traveling providers who pop up from MA, RI and such- as I posted here elsewhere I like to build relationships with the women I visit.
My experience in trying some, not all, of those without reviews is they aren't the gal in the picture, sometimes off by a long shot not even close.. and they had a donation price on the phone without saying what it involves (you shouldn't ever mix those two in conversation on the phone or at first arrival me thinks) and when you get there, it turns out the donation price is for a massage or maybe a hand job only, nothing else unless you pay sometimes twice the originally quoted price!
I've had some OK luck with non reviewed as well, but I avoid now the 401 area code and I avoid anything in the Westbrook/Portland line for a hotel as that's their hangout!
Best practice is reviewed ladies of course, and there are more of them now to choose from and still growing.
I just stay away! They all have terrible reviews!! Without much business maybe they wont come back !!
About 85 -95% of the backpage ads for places are fake, or at least their phone numbers are. I have googled so many of them and no legit info comes up on the phone number. If anyone can give me some good names and numbers please do.
Maybe, like me, your using an alias but you have no reviews and you want people to hand over info on the "real" BP providers. I smell bacon!

The trick.. don't go near 'exit 48' that's the hang out for the fake 401's.... It's Portland, but really Westbrook... maine mall in south portland is better and avoids that area and plenty of places to stay all around!

Respectfully, I would disagree with Mb_maine about locations. First off, I've seen many, many local providers at Exit 48 for many years, and had great times. There's no real reason to stigmatize the entire area or to distrust women because they stay there. I don't view Exit 48 as a reliable indicator for "fakes".
Also, a lot of Maine Mall (Exits 45, 46) locations are lousy for driver's privacy. The Days Inn, popular with many, is the worst. I won't go there. It's at one of Maine's very busiest intersections, with no adjoining, private or back entrance. If you drive an identifiable vehicle, you are just screwed for privacy there.*
No diss intended here, just passing on what I've learned from experience.
*unless Chili's can serve as a cover for you. That won't work for everyone- certainly doesn't work for me.
I agree I do not like the Maine mall area as it is to busy, hard to get to, and there is the no privacy issue. Follow this up with the South Portland PD car cams scanning plates. Its a no go for me Just my two cents
...... got zero complaints from anyone and my last Portland ME incall was near Maine Mall (lol it wasn't a Days Inn either.....ewww).

I love that this thread created so many responses! It made an awareness to some of what's been going on in Maine, at exit 48, with the 401 area code.. while it also brought out real providers that aren't fake using 401 area code. And we even see at least one new review on that 401 area code provider (who I hope to see if she comes back to Maine!). And the conversation about maine mall versus exit 48 was very enlightening regarding the privacy points which I've experienced myself as an issue.
It's a great forum for the conversations.. and I look forward to more opportunities to help out and be helped out with the various topics we bring here!

I'm still confused about the issue over an area code and why 207 is so important? Having have lived in Maine for a couple of years and being a member of TER for over 4 years and having plenty of favorable reviews, I'm confused by why all of a sudden having an area code outside of 207 points to being a fake.
It has only been recently that men from Maine have suddenly popped up on TER. I have always posted here, with a 207 and now without. I used to post on Mainely Babes and BIO, which is now defunct. I have a feeling many of you have found TER because you were told by a provider that this is a great resource. Regardless of the area code, you still have to do your research. You can find a provider in Bangor or Augusta, it's still a hit or miss as many of them have been busted. I also believe location will vary depending on the provider. I visited many different locations in the Portland area and have never had a problem.
I might also add, never name a specific location. To add to that, never even a specific area. I've seen girls post on BP about a specific exit, not a good idea. In turn, I've always been very welcomed when I've visited Portland. Yes, many are past acquaintances which I truly value.
I have been dumbfounded by the recent onslaughts of inquiries into Maine providers, it seemed to come out the blue. There is also one recent member who insists he will not see anyone that doesn't carry a 207 area code who I have seen a couple of times in the past.

I don't think this thread is about having or needing a 207 area code. The gist of the conversation stems from a rash of BP ads (which continue and with changed pictures but in the same posting groups) with 401 area codes which for those that have chimed in including my own personal visits now twice, have been all about upsell hell and the girl in the room isn't close to that in the ad. I'm all for seeing well-reviewed ladies, and appreciate both guys and gals for chiming in to that extent, but there is also variety and new fresh faces trying to make a go of it and customers for them. So someone makes a visit, and gets what they want or don't, but this forum is a great place to share that as well as reviews being posted.
The thread really was just pointing out that 401 seems to be a very popular area code for fakes, a group of them post together so likely posted by one person as they travel together, they stay up in the area of the mentioned exit and experience has said put the two together and forget trying that combo. 207 hasn't been mentioned that I can see as being needed, and in fact to get to variety of well reviewed ladies I would think from away allows for that variety!
And great points have been made about the Maine Mall area not being private, I would counter that certainly those directly visible to the Mall aren't private but down the road in either direction can be found options that are off-road so it makes for a convenient location. As well, the mentioned exit can be a great location, I just won't visit someone with a 401 area code in that location because history has shown the outcome is repeatable!
I do see a mix of well-reviewed and new talent, it's how the new talent can become well reviewed when someone takes that chance. But as someone that is and has done that, I pass along what I find for others to benefit from, as I hope others would too. It's OK to take a stand of only seeing well-reviewed ladies to be 100% certain of the outcome and reduce risk, but if that was the hobby we're all in, there would be a small handful of ladies well-reviewed and new talent never seeing the light of day.
