I visited my favorite AMP, in Fre.. (sorry not gonne put the full name, but those of you that know of it will know what town I mean) over the weekend and had a strange thing happen. I usually end up there during the week, but had time on Saturday evening so I thought I would try a different day.  I usually go up there  about once every 1-2 months, but after this weird experience I don't plan to return for a while.

I had a good visit and as I was leaving with a smile on my face, I noticed a piece of paper on my windshield.  It was an unsigned a type written letter from another customer of the AMP, issuing a warning.  The letter went on to say the he had been to the place recently and after leaving the place he was pulled over and then was questioned by the local police.  He stated they asked him many questions about the place including, fees, tips and what services are provided.  He claims that no information was given, nothing else happened, but he worried about this place getting busted.  He referenced the zumba incident and not wanting to get his name in the paper, etc.  He also referenced the recent bust of the AMP in S. Portland and was worried that this place is going to get busted too.  He said he was leaving the letters to warn people and that this was his only he knew how to do so.

Well, this creeped me out on many levels.  First the fact that someone was watching the place for cars and leaving things on them and the sketchiness of the story.  Getting randomly pulled over for no reason after leaving a business?  And if he was so worried, why would he be staking the place out after the face and leaving letters?  Not sure how much I beleive, but regardless not taking any chances and won't be going back there for a long time.  I wanted to at least let you all know what happened and give the warning you might not go back there for a time.  If this guys is on the up and up, then I gire him a big thanks, but why didn't he jsut post something here.

But as you say, kind of creepy how it got on your car.

When police do a bust they will observe the hotel room and question guys that leave.  They want signed statements from clients before arresting the lady, to support their case.  Have seen this happen in MA.

I would not be surprised if police use the same tactics to bust an AMP.  A client that got questioned may have printed out several copies of his "warning" to do whatever he could to thwart the investigation.  He may not know about TER

I agree with your instincts.  If said person had been pulled over, why would he ever go back and surreptitiously stick notes under other cars that may or may not be other customers of the same establishment.

I would not believe it for a second.  Just the mentioning the Zumba case.  She put videos on the internet!!!!! She was not discreet in any way. Entirely different set of circimstances.

If the police wanted to send a message, they would park in front of said AMP, not illegally stop people driving away.

Trust your gut.

A friend of mine got stopped and questioned after leaving a place in Sidney recently.  Is this a new thing going on?

I agree that the warning sounds sketchy. If the cops were watching the place they would see him placing the letters and the last thing I personally would want is to raise the ire of the police that already have me in their sites and have my info to boot.
Could totally be a competitor trying to kill their business, OR a local resident morality patrol trying to scare off clients.

As for the police stopping customers for questioning: It happens quite a lot LGD,
If they are investigating a place, they are not looking to ward people off, they are looking to bust it. They are not sending a message, they are gathering evidence, as stated earlier by DTL.
All you need to remember is to STFU and ask if you are being detained, and if so, for what reason. Then you ask for your attorney and shut up. Not another word if it doesn't start with "Law" and end with "yer".
If they say they pulled you over for a traffic violation or some other bullshit excuse, ask to be cited and sent on your way.
DO NOT believe a word they say as they can and will lie to make a case and it's perfectly legal. Telling you that you will be let go if you give them info will only GUARANTEE that you will called in to testify or at least make a statement on record, (which you are doing just by talking to them) which means your name goes on the books.

Tough call on how to proceed, DRJH.  Err on the side of caution is all I can say. You're probably best to stay away for now, which sucks because if it's bogus, it's giving the ones doing it just what they want.

The following is not to be read as slam or attack......

Maine is being invaded with AMP openings. Just look at all the ads in the classifieds of legit daily/weekly periodicals and local information websites. Included in new openings is Kennebunk....yes, that Kennebunk. And you can even see Kennebunkport from this new AMP's location. All reports are that it's a legit business with very reasonable prices. I have no direct information on the quality of the massage, which is important to me.

A Boston Chinatown masseuse who recently decided to take extended time off (well reviewed and respected here by many) told me that Maine has been talked about by many Asians entrepreneurs  thinking of opening up as an untapped business opportunity and facts seem to prove it with the number of daily visits to new places.

That said, you can decide for yourself if this reported incident sounds like "bad mouthing" (the flyers, not the writer)  an established and well run AMP. It is not close to residential homes, no sidewalks, and the speed limit on the road is over 40mph so "rubber-neckers" can't possibly be interested.

As to police stops.....seems like that is now accepted procedure and includes stopping neighbors to ask about a suspect when the suspect refuses to speak or call police back. That includes police giving information to the neighbors about what is suspected.

The easy answer is to enjoy a good massage by talented women at a fair price, without having to talk!....and stop there.

Thank you all for your comments.  Much appreciated.  Regardless if its a legit LE investigation, a competitor trying weasel some business or neighbor (which I doubt since is not a residential location) I am staying away for a long while to see what happens.  Which total annoys me since I am a regular at this place.  But choosing to think with the big head and not risk everything for the little one
