As you've probably noticed by now, TER has a new look and a new feel to it.

There are some good things, and some bad things IMO about the new site.  The moderators have had their say... now it's time for yours.  Admin has asked for feedback.  Please post your comments in this thread and they will be collected and sent back to admin.

A few things to note:

 - Yes, we know the "View All" function is missing.  It will be back soon.
 - Your comments may be edited for brevity or clarity.
 -  All comments about the new site: features missing, things broken, and things that work better are all welcome.  Comments about policies and practices are not.  This thread is ONLY about the new look and feel of TER.  Posts on other topics may be deleted.

While the older version look a bit more plain----plain was good.
It was easy to scan the page and see all the threads and replies to each thread, and the link color changed for each after you read it---- again allowing for easy scanning of waht you read or didn't read.
Seems now the fonts/lines are more crowded, its harder to scan, I don't see the replies easily, and I have to spend much more time then I did before opening messages and looking at replies. Prior I could just open a reply first.

Maybe I am missing something but i really prefer the old version in terms of usability and speed.

....I'm sure your competition will robustly applaud you as the number of hits
on your site tanks.

"Back to forum" used to remember where you were on the forum page and you'd be pointing at the next message. Now it just drops you back at the top of the forum so if you were 10 messages down you have to scroll down again, find the message you were just reading, yada, yada...

Obviously did very little (or ineffective) usability testing. This would have stood out like a sore thumb had this been tested in a web usability lab (can you guess what I do for a living?)

Ok, so the 1 thing I do like is that if a reply is made to a post, that post appear to be pushed back up to the top of the list.
Then not only are the most recent (original) posts at the top of the list, but the post that had the most recent reply is there too.

Maybe if there was a way to show all reples to a post (header only) indented like the old format, maintaining link color change (based on browser history), I'd be happier :)

Of course, I may just be accustomed to the old format, but I seem to waste alot of time finding the link(s) sought and I can't seem to identify any improvements...so, I now just click on the old format link after log-in...I'm happy with that.

the changes I've seen are not worth the change! Almost as when a particular software is upgraded to a "newer and better" version only to find it's mostly sizzle and no steak and yet the "learning curve" is there and the user would have been better off staying with the older version.

I have to say, although the format uses nicer fonts and has slicker graphics, overall it's less functional.

With the new format being forced to fit within the graphic designer's very small centered pane, you've gained nothing really (except perhaps printability, which is something few here, if any, will try) and you've caused the text and information to be longer vertically. Now you have more wrapped text, causing double lines.

This is a good example of a graphic designer having too much control, and someone who is apt at designing functional GUI's not being in enough control.

It makes the site, overall, more challenging to use. This is not just someone who is afraid of change either. But this website is an information and function website first, the glitz only serves to hurt here.

Once Classic is eliminated as an option, I'll limit my visits as needed for info.

Although for the most part, the info is already limited to checking Reviews.

Change is always difficult, but eventually you see the improvements to service.

In this case, I don't think the change is for the improvement of service to TER members. Frankly, I think it is form over substance.

Perhaps if speed improves, and "view all" is automatic, then maybe it will be palatable.
