The card reader I use charges the fees to me, so you will not be charge a swipe fee. It is all discreetly billed under a generic company name that would appear to be office supplies or something similar. I tour New England and New York frequently. Check my website for tour dates.
With all the technology we have such as any IPhone or iPad being able to accept a credit card (with a card reader device), how come more providers don't utilize them? It would seem that there could be the possibility of more clients.
Having the technology is great, however in the interest of discretion and not wanting the banks or others questioning the transactions you have to really think about it. In the past I'd heard of charge back issues and so forth, there are quite a few muddy areas that I would gander many don't want to step in, especially when it comes to taxes etc.
I guess charge backs could be an issue. I've used a provider that accepted them and it went thru as a discrete transaction so unless you have someone really scrutinizing the statement, no one would ever really know. Not sure as far as the IRS would concerned though if they look into things like that. As far as the fees, I think they're around 3-4 % per swipe, which obviously lessens the providers take, but the possibility of more business by using credit cards could more then offset that.
I use cash 99% of the time, but I still like having the options and wished more providers accepted credit cards
I accept credit cards through Square, but I haven't had request it yet.

months now, and I've never had a charge-back. I use an extremely generic business name for the billing.
BTW, I'll be touring to Stamford, CT Nov 4-7... and I'm happy to make it simple for you. Paper or plastic!
