Alana, that's terrible!  Some cancellations are unavoidable of course (e.g. appointment is made a few days in advance and then the gentleman is called to go out of town on business at the last minute), but NCNS without a really good reason (and a followup) is unforgivable in ANY case, for clients or providers.  So sorry you had this bad experience on your first visit to Minnesota.  Hopefully it will not dissuade you from returning some day, and if you do you may want to ask local providers for help in screening clients, so you know who is likely to be courteous, and respectful of your valuable time.

I've noticed that the Twin Cities really gets a lot of repeat visiting ladies as well as many first time visitors. I have to assume that the reason many ladies are repeat visitors is because they do well here. I'm sorry that you're getting flaked and cancelled on. You have stellar reviews and appear to be very pretty....just my type. Maybe it takes a few visits to build a reliable clientele here, I don't know. Personally, I am the type who tries to live up to my commitments all of the time; or I don't make them to begin with.
Again, sorry for your run of inconsiderate behavior.  

My guess is that you've got to stick with guys who have solid references, a review history, whitelist or P411.  Just as there are providers who are high-quality and won't cancel without notice, there are hobbyists who are the same.  But there are also hobbyists who get their thrills just from contacting the provider, and have no intention of following through.

A local provider recently raised this issue, so it's not just touring girls.  

I'm really sorry this has happened to you. I don't think this is typical of the TC, at least I wouldn't like to think so.
 

I follow a few providers on twitter that I have seen before or would like to see in the future. There are four on tour in different cities all complaining about the same. One is in Chicago another in New Orleans. The one in New Orleans requires a deposit to make a appointment and she still had no shows. Something is definitely strange when you would no show and lose a deposit. She is a former porn star so her rates are not low and she gets 30% deposit so we are not talking small amounts.

I have a theory that a lot of NCNSs whether guys or gals come from a handful of repeat offenders.  The ladies are generally reluctant to call the guys out publicly on this issue, so they continue to get away with it.  

I have heard this is a problem in other markets as well.  It seems like it hits especially hard on your first couple of visits, before you've had a chance to identify the time wasters.

59 appointment made and completed, two cancellations that I made (both 24 hours plus in advance) and 9 cancellations by providers (most inside of 24 hours). I have never NCNS'd.

I always wonder why hobbyists complain about providers cancelling on them, since it happens to me the other way around so often. FTR, I try not to cancel on hobbyists unless something unavoidable has happened (which does happen sometimes-- I'm not perfect. But I definitely don't cancel on 1/4th or 1/3rd of my dates.) Maybe both sides just suck... lol

Here is my rule: I will never be upset/fuming/frustrated about anyone for more than 3 days.  Life is too short, to be lived with a frown. Let things go: Smile and Be happy.

That said, Here is the trend I have seen with NCNS:
1. If all communication is over email/cyberspace the probablity is very high it is going to be a NCNS.
2. Some providers have said, they do not want to give out their phone numbers: No Reputable business exists without a phone number. In todays tech world, it is a lot easier to be discreet through texting. And text is instantaneous.  
3. There is no need to text or exchange phone calls for more than 2 days.  If the appointment was setup more than 2 days in advance, it is important, that 2 days before the appointment all communication is done through phone.  Flirting through texting, and also sweet, sexy, happy texts throughout the day, keep the blood flowing. Also, text response times and text tones will give you a very good idea of how reliable a person is.  
4.  My phone rings a lot. When I need sleep/private time I switch to airplane mode.  One can never get away from Creeps and Wierdos.

Here are my stats. I only see providers who have more than 3 TER reviews. In over 20 years of hobbying( I started before internet existed) I have never NCNS'ed on a provider. All the providers who have NCNSed on me have email/cyberspace communication only or have forgetten to pay their phone bill.  

If you cannot remember to pay your monthly phonebill: It is a 100% guaranteed, NCNS. And if you are always running late/ check into a hotel after making an appointment well then......

This has certainly been an interesting discussion!  I hope that the answer is not simply that MN men are flaky.  I need to believe that's not the case.  Everyone hobbies under different circumstances, and I think we all understand that sometimes cancellations are unavoidable, on both sides.  I this thread also shows that both providers and clients are generally understanding of cancellations (although disappointed) if they are treated like an adult and communicated with as far in advance as possible.

But there is no excuse for the NCNS on either end.  Most of the comments in this thread don't relate to actual experience with the NCNS phenomenon, and I think that's because the people posting here are self-selected responsible hobbyists and providers.  

So I guess what I would say to you, Alana, is that (from my perspective) there is a strong, vibrant, and reliable hobby community in MPLS.  There are probably also a lot of flaky guys on the periphery.  But if you stick to people who have P411 accounts and provider okays, or who are active on TER, I think the percentage of NCNS situations would be negligible.  

Even so, I can appreciate that there are challenges for a traveling provider: what if the pool of P411 or TER hobbyists isn't sufficiently large to supply a full schedule, and so a provider is forced to underbook or take bookings from guys who are unproven? Does the amount of time in advance that the provider posts on the regional ad board make a difference?  Does price point affect the NCNS rate?  Is it necessary to have a local "guide" when touring who can help spot reliable hobbyists from the local scene during screening?  

I truly didn't mean to write a novel here, and I'm fairly new so I probably lack the necessary "street cred," but the bottom line is that there are lots of responsible hobbyists in MN, we're really sorry that you have had an unpleasant experience, and we really hope that you won't write MN off.  Come back and give us another chance -- there's lots to like about this hobbying community (if you look at the regional boards, for example, this is one of the most active in the U.S.).
