So I heard recently that the FBI can watch you through your computer's webcam, does anyone know if this is true? I plan to keep some tape over the cam unless i'm using it, to keep their vision blurred ;)

I know many of you have enjoyed my cam chats in the past and I want to keep the tradition going! Don't let the FBI scare you, use the tape method ;) The chat is a great way to get a closer peek at a lady you fancy... something you can't get from an Ad. I hope more ladies will join me! This could turn into a sexy PJ party... Monday night next week! PM for deets.

Anyone that is technologically talented can hack into a webcam. Mine is facing a blank wall at all times.

There has been more than the FBI spying through unsuspecting webcams.  There have been some reported cases of people recording you when you are less than presentable and then threatening to make the images public if they don't get whatever they want.

If your laptop has a built in microphone, I have been told they can turn those on as well.

Modern technology. Love what ya hate, hate what ya love. Lol! My laptop stays in a case in the living-room & my desktop against the kitchen wall. Heck! Shoot me a meal you'd love to learn to cook & I'll give ya a step by step lesson. Fully clothed though. Sorry. Blame it on the hackers.

Maybe I wasn't paying enough attention or maybe just didn't realize since I don't watch much TV ever... But glad others are aware. CNN made it real to me recently. My camera is IN my computer, facing me at all times, so I can't turn it around. Sticky note seems good to me. Lucky I don't talk to myself much or I'd be worried about the mic.... they'll only hear my music and Netflix movies ;

A few years ago a private high school in suburban Philadelphia provided laptops to all their students.  Some teachers and administrators were busted for turning on the webcams when the young ladies were dressing and undressing.  It's not just the FBI you have to worry about.

...so it's highly unlikely that the FBI would really care what you're up to. It's only illegal to provide pleasure under State laws. I would be surprised to learn Minnesota law enforcement had enough money in their budget to monitor people behaving peacefully within their own homes. If that's true, then our local news hounds would soon get wind of it and they would make it big news that Big Government was intruding into our private lives. The 4th amendment to our Constitution guarantees us privacy within our homes. They can't legally monitor you. Big Brother will never intrude to that level, I trust.

It also depends on what sort of precautions the computer's owner takes to protect their computer against this.  But in your case I would be more worried about technically sophisticated voyeurs than the FBI.

I'm writing this while in my bubble bath ... Could someone spy on me right now???

Also turn your GPS off when taking pics ... They can include exactly location of where you took the pic.

I also like to be careful of accepting pics etc from emails ... Most of you hobbyists are awesome but it only takes one crazy one to become your stalker.

Since the stuff is baked in to the hardware, no wonder Cisco is claming they may loose over a billion dollars in sales in China...they no like. Lehman Brothers was a 1.2 Billion loss in made up realestate deals/derviatives. This is revenue, not earnings. The move has shot our computer industry in the foot here in the states, and may force a recession.

Don't forget the "Mann Act" a federal law that  " ... made it a felony to engage in interstate or foreign commerce transport of "any woman or girl for the purpose of prostitution or debauchery, or for any other immoral purpose". Its primary stated intent was to address prostitution, "immorality", and human trafficking particularly where it was trafficking for the purposes of prostitution. This is one of several acts of protective legislation aimed at moral reform during the progressive era. Its ambiguous language of "immorality" allowed prosecutions for many years, and was used to criminalize consensual sexual behavior. It was amended by Congress in 1978 and again in 1986 to apply to transport for the purpose of prostitution or illegal sexual acts."

Which means if you travel to another state for the purpose of providing you have violated Federal Law.
