Interesting factoid... per a very quick scan of the Minnesota Top 100, at least 5 of them are DIY providers.  Another indication there IS a market for that kind of provider, and some of them are thought of very highly by their clients.

Whenever this topic comes up, as it seems to every so often here, I have to wonder what all the angst is about DIY by guys who don't go that route.  If it's about how to avoid DIY providers... just read the reviews (yeah, it may mean forking over a few bucks for a short-term TER membership) and only see ladies who are clearly not DIY.  Problem solved.

I get that most of you all here are more FS types.   I am just FBSM/L1.   As I read reviews and try to figure who to see I come across so many DIY girls.    Is there something wrong with me that I do not understand the attraction.    

I guess if the cost was dramatically less I could get into it somewhat, but in most cases the pricing seems to be the same.

Just kind of venting.  

I am new to this whole thing and keep thinking I am going to make a bad choice and wind up at a DIY place by accident.

Never understood it either...maybe its a safety thing, or some morality issue. If I want DIY I can fire up my pc at home and watch porn. Differnent strokes for different folks (insert pun)

I rarely post on the boards, but let me just say with all the incredible ladies to choose from here who will be willing to watch, encourage, cheerlead and (thank God) help. I just have this to say for DIY.  
It's NOT for me.

DIY should be in it's own section, not with escorts or massage providers that give the happy ending.

I do really dig that reviewers seem to know to mention DIY often and early in their reviews.

I am waiting on my first reviews to get published so I can read full reviews and start adding more.

Many use the line "I stay within the legal limits."  Most of what goes on during DIY, which involves exchange of greenbacks, is illegal.

get off on it. It may be the price point.  It may be that the denial of consummation is a turn on.  How many guys watch webcams and DIY?  This may be like that, but with a live person...

I have to add my .02 here...
First off...the pricing is usually NOT the same.  Most of the massage girls have rockin young bods, great hands, and fun/sexy personalities. If they were FS they'd be 300 (or more) girls, and I'm seeing them for 1/2 that.
Sure, I've found those same qualites in  FS providers  (and it's exactly what I hope for!) but I've also had a fair number of "swing and a miss" encounters, and this after reading and following reviews. I'd say I've had a better satisfaction quota with massage providers; not that I enjoy it more, just that the consistency is there.
And if you treat them right...well, menus are sometimes flexible guys, thats all I'm saying:)

'Rocking young bod' is the key item here.
I feel the value is great. Just think if you were going to a strip club, even a cheaper place like K of D. You could not touch the gal or yourself and would drop WAY more than $150 an hour.  
I enjoy masturbating and hate condoms. In fact there have been several times I couldn't come with a FS provider due to the condom and needed to DIY to complete.

I agree 100% with the "whatever floats your boat" type comments.   For some people, they may think I am crazy for only being FBSM/L1.

I guess what really chaps my ass is the DIY girls who seem ok with ads that leave this stuff questionable.   If you are DIY, make it clear... maybe you will attract more guys who like that type of thing.

I think it all goes back to the old saying: YMMV.

A provider who might be DIY for Guy 1, might bend the rules for Guy 2, might give Guy 3 a HJ and might give a BJ to Guy 4.  

Sometimes a comfort level might develop. Sometimes she doesn't like one guy. Sometimes a guy might be rewarded for being respectful. Sometimes she might just be in the mood for more fun.  

And when a provider who many people think is DIY or won't use her hands does open the menu up a little bit, guys might not be willing to share that info.  

I get that DIY isn't great, but one guy's DIY might be another guy's fun.

hey man.. you know I have seen both FS and DIY and those in between and I have to say the thing I love about DIY girls (at least the ones I have seen) is that it is a true GFE sans the handy help, even though it is YMMV with many of them.. Honestly the girls at lyn/lake are so great and just seem to really enjoy making out with me .. I really dig that ..  AND they are very upfront about it .. so if it is not your cup of tea just ignore ..  I will say it is SO much better than going to see some young chick who gives me a 5 minute baby oil finger tip massage on the back and quick flips me over and starts jacking it while she stares off into space!! I can see where a guy would look at the climax as being the point of him spending money on a provider, but I'll echo a few other voices in this thread to say that for me, the experience is as important or even more so.

I've had wonderful experiences with both FS providers and DIY ladies, but:

- the DIY ladies are less expensive, which means I can see them more often, and

- I can often make an appointment with a DIY lady on short notice, sometimes even the same day, which lets me scratch an itch while I still have it.

I guess I don't see it as 'preferring' one style over another -- I'll happily see a gal if I get the impression (or know from experience) that I'm going to enjoy the time we spend together. I simply don't have to 'get nut' in a particular way (or at all, sometimes) to have a good time.

as I read the reviews it seems they all have very similar writing styles.   Very similar.  And, they all tend to include this phrase:  "I knew this was a DIY"      
 
Like, that exact phrase.   Am I crazy, but why don't any of those guys giving the crazy good reviews ever wind up engaged in discussions on the boards.      
 
Again, don't get me wrong.   I am find with everyone likes something different, but I see reviews for some of the real massage girls I have seen (some of which I have reviewed) and they seem more disparate and differing in writing styles.  
 
Just curious, do the DIY girls have people write reviews for them?

Having written a couple of reviews for DIY gals, including a very recent one, I can say that I wrote those reviews myself.

I point out when gals are DIY so that they're more likely to get clients who understand and appreciate DIY, rather than jerks who try to push them over their boundaries because they don't think DIY is a 'real ending'.

yeah, I might.   I am new to this whole thing and just trying to learn.   The last thing I want is to get into a situation where what I want or expect makes a girl uncomfortable.   This is all supposed to be fun.   I would hate to think I was ever too pushy or did not understand boundaries.

thanks to everyone who replied and also thanks to the PM's I got.   Maybe I will give DIY a shot... Kissing is about the best thing ever for me and maybe that is one of the attractions of DIY.
