I realize that time changes…… but I think that people do not. I’ve seen this board change from Minnesota-friendly to down-right meaness! I was going to start a thread about how is the interest for the reason that we’re all on this site….. has progressed into possessiveness of people and ideas. I’ve seen providers turn on each other. Hobbyists attack each other. We’re all here for a specific reason. What the hell happened from 3 years ago?
In the end….we both need and desire each other. What’s the problem? Perhaps emotion of the moment of typing? Vorlon has been a voice of reason. BB has contributed to that end as well. Wendy has positively contributed, as has Kate (with a "K").
I'll wait for responses before responding to your responses. It appears that this is not about the oldest profession in the world. Am I wrong?
When compared with the other boards, This board had been a friendly board. But an ugly element has crept in. This board would be so much better if we could discuss things without attacking those we disagree with. We can disagree and respect the opinions of those we disagree with!

Your posts are usually more light-hearted and teasingly fun. I personally haven't seen anything so outrageous as to warrant your negative critique of the current board and activity here.

We have not had too many real train wrecks on this board in the last couple of years. This place used to be more untamed and a lot less PC. We do have some occasional sniping and slapping, but no outright brawls.
Some people need thicker skins and need to be able get over a little negativity. We always have to remember where we are and appreciate strong opinions on both sides.
One thing that schmohawk and I are not going to do is delete negative posts every time we see them. Yes, we will remove some posts that are over the top or close a thread when we deem it necessary, but freedom of expression is also very important. This board is what the members make it and I think this is one of the best boards on TER. So have a little fun and don't dwell on the negative.
I also like to here different sides of a story and we are all different. Frankly, some of the negative sides of discussions are just as worthy as the positive. We all have to take what we want, and toss the rest and that includes the sniping.
On a thread below I made mention about aliases being friends one day and enemies the next. You never know who the other poster is and it could be one of your allies.
I just think that some of us should not take things too seriously on these boards especially when it comes to disagreements. Like I said take what you want and toss the rest.

But I also think, despite some occasional flame wars, that there are enough sane and well adjusted members here to keep the malcontents and troublemakes at bay without over-regulating things. I think it would otherwise just be too boring. I kinda like hanging out in bars where every once in awhile there is a bar fight, especially when its about a woman.
that it's one of the liveliest, most interesting, and entertaining of the boards. When I began in TER last summer, I mainly lurked at the Newbie and GD boards. The latter was completely over the top, imho, in snarkiness, insider threads that made no sense to an outsider, and utterly foul language. I began frequenting the Minn. board after a while, and have found it to be a nice, smaller, friendlier community. Lots of fun threads and features ("Shill Friday," "Tushy Tuesday," etc.).
Check out some other boards. I used to live in Michigan, and that board is COMPLETELY dead!! The bottom of Page One--PAGE ONE, mind you!!!--is a posting from November 19, 2011!! In contrast, the bottom of Page One in our board is from four days ago! We are lucky, I'd say.
Yes, there's more negativity here than I'd like sometimes, but overall, it's been a great experience for me.
I imagine it has a lot to do with people leaving and new people coming in. FWIW I have been on this board for a little over 8 years now and have seen several cycles where the level of nastiness was vastly worse than it is now. My belief is that generally the best strategy for dealing with those who insist on being obnoxious is to point out the flaws in their positions without getting into flame wars with them (which is often all they really want anyway).
In years past the board was helpful for the most part and there were more providers on it. The last few months its become joke run by trolls overzealos white nights and rampant aliase abusers. With little provider input. Look at the posts we have in the past couple of days and you'll see what I mean. This and ters stupid policies moves of late are why I havent been posting or leaving reviews anymore. MN nice my ass. Ters becoming a joke
regular posters that are just outright nasty to each other. I think our Minnesota board is pretty good in comparison to many others - which I will leave nameless. Just go on a few other boards and you can catch the vibe REAL quick. There are the exceptions here, of course, where some of our members get snippy ..... but such is life. I do try and contribute myself from time to time - and I certainly appreciate those that do so regularly and keep the conversation positive. If criticism is in order .... it should be constructive and civil. Humor is nice ............ we are all just people trying to make our lives a bit more........enjoyable!
Thank you for making mention of me. I used to let every nasty little comment bother me. I wanted everyone to like me and could not figure out why they didn't. I've since learned that with so many different personalities here, that is just not possible. There are always going to be haters. Some are more vocal than others. I try to be reasonable and informative and fair. Most understand that but some don't seem to. there are some topics that I am passionate about (and you all know what those are) and will express my opinion about regardless of what anyone thinks. This is because of things I have experienced or my closest lady friends have experienced.
I personally think alot has changed since the nice guys bust a few years back. It changed the MN hobby community. It changed our board and the people who participate here. People are still overly-cautious and, in some ways, rightfully so. They wanted to tear our hobby community apart and they did. It is time we mend it and move on...using what we learned to better the community not hurt it.
I am always for freedom of speech as long as there are no personal attacks. We all are adults and should be able to express our opinions without being assholes. I point the finger at myself too....I've had a few snotty comments removed during my time here. I am not exempt.
I enjoy the different personalities here and welcome more.

Because if you post a question or tell about something that happened to you, someone will jump all over your shit about it. Tell you you should have just looked here or they are tired of hearing about the same things and on and on and on. Its to bad as this is/can be an awesome place for info exchange.
Sadly, it seems our society is drifting into more and more hostile disrespectfulness to each other. Nevertheless, I've found the Minnesota board to be one of the most civil and well-moderated. (Thanks to Apollo and Schmohawk.) I don't live in Minnesota (tho my ATF Hilary Holiday does), but this board is by far my favourite because of the sincerity and quality of its contributors.
Mundane isn't why most come here. If you want a large audience, you need reads.
No research done lately nor do I even know what in particular is the bother, but in the past the more reads were the controversies.
Personal attacks aren't good, especially led by unstable people... leads to trouble every time. But, controversy and spice lead to more reads which lead to more business. A dead board will kill your business.
