2 countries?

Suggestion then.. Get some of that Saudi oil money and start pimping chicks in Mecca.  How bout China or Japan?  Well there are 3 Countries.. Think I can stop now.

Get REAL!

And if "country" means by locality, then it's legal in the US as well.  Nevada has legalized prostitution in various counties.

I saw business men go in and out of brothels (like apartment buildings) in Europe on the way home from work like there was nothing to it. It was very civil and very safe. The ladies had a panic button next to the bed, if they hit the button it would summon the security in record time. The ladies where very nice because of the competition in the building(s) and they new you would not see them again if they didn't treat you right. I'm all for legalization.

I'm not sure it's a "step," but it's an indication of public acceptance.

I suspect that the legalization of marijuana for recreational purposes in Washington and Colorado is also a step toward legalization of prostitution.  Legalizaing pot signifies a public acceptance of a "drug" that was once viewed as equivalent to narcotics and associated with crime, as well as public dismissal of a lot of myths that surrounded pot.  That kind of attitude -- together with acceptance of gay marriage -- signals a public sentiment that government doesn't have much of an interest in what individuals do in their private lives.  And hopefully that attitude will carry over to the hobby!

too many religious nut cases.

I would think that a brothel owner may be LESS likely to support then expansion of the activity because then he'd have more competition.

Regarding where it's legal, isn't it also legal in Canada and Mexico?

...and I can't recall the other. Maybe Indonesia?
There are varying restrictions but it's allowed. Generally, what's not allowed is street walking/solicitaion type of prostitution. Otherwise, brothels and private one on one in private residences is allowed. In Iran, the law is circumvented by the granting of 48 hour temporary marriage licenses.
There is growing acceptance of homosexuality, same sex marriage, etc. in the U.S. Isn't it about time that we 'buy - sexuals' be granted the right to express our sexual preferences openly and legally? ;)

...I know the nuances of the English language are a bit difficult for some to master but people tend to live on a planet, not in one. Unless you're of the Morlock race, then you might live underground.
Using your criteria that since in the U.S. there are a few counties in Nevada in which prostitution is legal, therefore making prostitution legal in the entire country, then prostitution is legal in China. There is one province in China in which prostitution is legal therefore it is legal in the entire country. In Japan, prostitution is definitely legal. I don't know where you get your information but it's wrong!

But a few decades ago it would be unthinkable in Nevada also.
Legal Brothels have been running in NV since the 1970's and it shows with the public acceptance.
It shows progress, but still a long way to go.

But there is nothing to say it will last.  There are some encouraging things going on in this country towards tolerating behaviors that were not tolerated before but there are many people who will fight these trends and we probably won't know for some years yet whether these gains will stick.

As an elder statesmen. (sounds better than old fart 53)  if I think back to high school a blowjob was out of the question most of the time.  Sex was only if you were in a relationship.  A girl that was a friend had no benifets.

Now a blowjob is not be considered sex.  A friend of the opposite sex gets benefits. " It's just sex" is a common phrase that infers that there is no long intimacy involved.

Basically, the point is that each generation puts less emotion into sex.

At some point in time someone will see the revenue potential and try to make it legal. If the emotion is gone it will pass and tax revenue will flow.

Just a thought.
