A very helpful place to start would be the newbie board. Here you can ask questions and read about newbie experiences and past newbie topics not that MN posters are not willing to help.

The link is in the drop down menu under TER General Boards to the left of the Regional Boards.

I also recommend visiting the Self Help Center, link is below. It is actually fun to read and sort of a quick start guide to the hobby.
