Yesterday, two message threads on the General Discussion board regarding the habit of posting unnecessary messages created a lively discourse.

I would like to comment, from a hobbyists' perspective, on a few of the missed points underlying that concern.

One.) The most obvious reason unnecessary messages should not be placed under a provider's weekly advertisement (or other message threads) on a regional board is that it will force those messages to sink quickly down the first page of the board.  Providers are frustrated when their advertisements fall off of the first page.  Filling the board -- with what are simply text messages -- does affect the flow of valuable information between hobbyists and providers.

Two.) I do not believe that the average hobbyist is interested in whether or not a provider finds another provider's images compelling.  If another provider is that attractive, please book (and donate) your own session with her.  From my own experience, providers really appreciate compliments from other providers.  Therefore, a substantive e-mail message from one provider to the next containing such sentiments would be far more valuable than a simple sentence on a public discussion board.

Three.) A careful examination of the "Top 10 Posters" list indicates that each of the handles are hyperlinked.  A highlighted hobbyists' handle takes an individual directly to their review history.  A highlighted providers' handle takes an individual nowhere (because they do not have reviews).  Essentially, the "Top 10 Posters" list must have been intended for hobbyists.  If the list is to remain a useful tool, the highlighted handle of a provider should lead to her profile.

Although numerous additional reasons exist why unnecessary messages should be avoided, the three reasons listed above are really important.

Finally, the resistance by some hobbyists to simple messages on discussion boards may be generational in nature.  For the most part, providers are younger than hobbyists.  Young people have been text messaging their friends for some period of time.  It only makes sense that such behavior would be mirrored on The Erotic Review.

And was it necessary to post this message on both boards? and start a whole new thread in the process?

First, where in the rules or on the boards or anywhere does it say "top 10 Posters" have to be hobbyists?   Where does it say "top 10 Posters" was only intended for hobbyists?  And, excuse me but some ladies actually do make appts with other ladies so let's see..that would make them both hobbyist and a provider, right?   And what qualifies "top 10 posters" as a Useful Tool?

The top 10 posters is simply a list of the top 10 posters.   Useful tool?  Hardly.  Useful tools are the search functions, the reviews, TER mobile, TER Plug-in, and TER messenger.  

The power is out at my house and I've got to drink a 12 pack of 8.1% a.b.v. before it warms up.  

Why am I telling you this?  Who the heck knows.  I've got work to do.

This is some real rotgut. Saw it in liqour store down on lake street.  winos carrying it out as fast as they could. 8.1% and 6.99 a 12 pak.  Mexican guy stocking sheleves saw me lookin at it, and said "Strong".   So I said: Where is it from?  and he said "strong".  Ans I said where is it made? and he said "strong" so I boutght some.  bettre look for a flashlight.

I've never heard of it, I usually just drink scotch.  You better get some help drinking that stuff.  Hell for 6.99 a 12 pack you could just through it out.  You know I would have never said that 20 years ago. LOL

You make some great points.

I have always enjoyed hearing opposing viewpoints, so I enjoyed reading your post. And, after reading your post, I find that you made some valid points, though I have some follow up questions/comments for you to consider. Please read my respective responses to your comments above.

1. Your viewpoint completely makes sense. The way you feel about providers posting compliments on other providers’ posts is how I feel about long flirting posts between ONE provider and ONE hobbyist. The interaction is typically between the two pushing other ads off the boards. (BTW, I love when gents post flirty comments on my ads and I usually send them a flirty reply via PM). Just as gents might enjoy posting something flirty, I enjoy doing so as well…not for the gents, but because I am truly bisexual and want to. Which brings me to this point: By chance are you concerned by the gentlemen who post flirty posts on provider ads pushing other ads off the first page? I highly doubt you are concerned about whether or not their being flirty on an ad will push others off…or your post above would be aimed at that audience as well. So, should gents be discouraged from posting flirty comments on ads? Apparently, TER does not think so because in the updated rules it says gents can comment on ads. I think they are on to something. So to you, I respectfully ask you to consider this question: Why the double standard? Maybe I missed something or was reading into your comments too much. I apologize if so.

2. You say, “I do not believe that the average hobbyist is interested in whether or not a provider finds another provider's images compelling.” Likewise, I do not think many hobbyist OR providers are interested in whether or not other gents think so and so’s pictures and her hot body are the best! You feel hobbyists are not interested in how much a provider enjoys another provider’s pictures? Do you feel other hobbyist care that so and so hobbyist thinks [insert provider name] is hot?!?! Why is there the bias? If you have something against other providers’ comments, do you have issues with other gents comments? For some reason I feel the answer is no, yet I wanted to bring light to the double standard.

3. Also, I agree it is quite awkward that when you click on the highlighted name of a provider on the “top ten list” it brings you to a White List page for the provider. Providers do not receive White Lists. Why not link to the profile of the provider?, I ask as well. Perhaps it is a good idea to post a suggestion on the suggestion board for admin to review. Great point!
