Does anyone use uber or lyft   for there appointments if so what are the plus and minus?

I go to great lengths to keep my "hobby" life separate from my personal life. To set up an account, I have to give them personal information--either my phone # or my Google login. Because I don't have a burner phone with a data plan, this would have to live on my personal phone. That leaves too much risk of the two lives overlapping for my comfort. In addition, payment is electronic so I would have to set up a separate credit card. The only way I could do that while maintaining separation would be to use a Visa gift card. I'm sure Uber and Lyft both retain your riding data. I have no idea what their policies are about sharing that data. That's one more risk I don't want to deal with. Overall, there are too many risks and inconveniences for this to work for me.

For someone who doesn't need the separation that I do, ride sharing is a convenient option (but there's still the potential data trail you leave behind). For me, though, a cab works better because I don't have to give them my personal information and I can pay with cash.

Good luck
