The number assigned when you register is determined by area code (my favorite one to use is 55401 Mpls - downtown) I alway have gotten a (612) prefix from that. Also I keep other phones with 763 or 952 numbers for "work" verification - I have been at this a long time and can find my way through "most" situations - I will say that it helps me greatly to be calling inexperenced young girls (you can't see EVERY girl you want to and still remain UTR.... Sometimes you need to choose between privacy or the girl you want!)
I had a provider questioning me a couple of weeks ago about who I was on TER. I denied even hearing about TER. She said she was ticked off because of a negative comment someone had made about her.
Here are the keys to staying safe in the hobby.
1. Stay anonymous. There are plenty of good providers who don't want your personal info. Use them. Think of what you're risking and ask if anyone can be that good. If you must verify, use Roomservice3000. 2. Watch your back. Use Go phones registered to phony names. Watch where you park. Don't park right outside where your liscense plate can be had. Ben Dover has a hobby car. Use untraceable e-mail. If you walk into something and it doesn't feel right, run don't walk. 3. Keep a low profile. If you proclaim yourself the king of the hobbiests and make it known who you are, you become a target. If you are an average schmuck, no one cares. Don't get involved in provider drama. There are no rewards for heroism. 4. Keep your reviews generic, especially the bad ones. 5. Trust no one. Many times its not the girls, but the boyfriends or the pimps you need to watch out for.
Its like buying stock. If you can't sleep at night because of the risk, then walk away. It ain't worth it.
A couple of months ago we complained about the "drama" of some posts from Whosjohngalt. Personally, I'd love to have that problem back instead of the current one. That was rather harmless in comparasion.
I couldn't argee more with your hobby guide (living by these rules sure helped me this week!)
You know, I miss that johngalt guy, he had a unique perspective on this hobby - If he's out there reading the boards, I'd like him to email me at [email protected] - It would be nice to have a few friendly emails pop up evernow and then amidst the sea of hate mail that has started pouring in since I put my email address on the board! LOL!
Can you provide more info on Go Phones for someone who in uninformed? Where to get/how to get/what info is required to get/ how much. Is there a link to get info that you can provide? Thanks and hobby carfully
you can buy a tracphone or other pay as you go phone at wal mart or im sure lots of other places. you buy cars like phone cards to put the minutes on your phone. pretty easy to do.
