The poster clearly stated that the client who helped LE bust the provider goes by the name of "xx."

What if "xx" was the client's real name? Is that not outing another hobbyist?

Do you realize that every hobbyist who has a name remotely close to "xx" is screwed in MN at least with providers who read this board.

Thousands of appointments will not happen now because of all those providers running scared from the daily deluge of referrals from 'Ed'.

People named Ed will have to change their names be cause everyone knows where Ed lives.

Ed will probably have to undergo extensive cosmetic surgery and change careers.

No worries to those gents named "Ed". A lot of us take the post below with a grain of salt. There were no facts and just a lot of scare tactics in the thread (sound familiar?). As long as you allow me to properly screen you, I will see you even if your first name is "Ed". And then I will give you a great reference so you will not encounter any problems in the future just because your name is "Ed". "Ed", you are A-OK in my book. Besides, I loved re-runs of "Mister Ed (1961)" when I was a girl.

In mid 2009 (guess the time period)  I had a meeting scheduled days in advance with someone new who was very reputable.   Called the morning of, everything ok to go, location and time set, arrived at the location, called several times, no answer.  I left several messages for a couple hours and finally went home and sent an email.  The next day I finally received an email apologizing because in the rumor mill (board) someone with a first name the same as mine came up and she figured it best not to have contact.  Never was able to make it work after that so these type things can affect those in the name pool.  This time, I am glad my name is Earl and not Ed!

If there is no concrete info regarding the accusation then names should be left out period!

I actually understand the point of your post.  Still I would have to agree with, and support with Puck's policy.  Here is the reason for my position:  The fact or facts surrounding this "incident" are still unknown.  If there truly was a bust, then that information would become public soon enough, but I think not appropriate here in this forum.  I don't think that there is a provider on this board who would appreciate her name being bantered about over something that MAY mean nothing.  Her life under that name would be over on this and other boards.  Puck is doing the right thing under those circumstances.

It is also obvious (to me anyway) that Puck is also acting with the same accord for hobbyists too.  I don't know who this "Ed" is.  It could be Ed McMahon or Ed Kennedy except for obvious reasons.  I will treat every Ed the same way as long as his screening info is in order.  Now if someone outted some dude named "Puck", then even every hockey puck would have a problem with meeting me!  I hope that you understand.  I happen to still subscribe to seemingly archaic philosophy of "innocent until proven guilty".  "Ed" is safe to see me.  A "Puck" will be subjected to more scrutiny!

I agree with your first paragraph.  On the second, while it is great that this is your position Marie and I commend you for the innocent until proven guilty belief, there over 2,000 others (by your count) that obviously could not or do not have the same belief and position as you do.  What if someone comes on here tomorrow and says watch out for Joe, Mike or Bruce with nothing to back up the claims? Do those names stay on the board?  Just as well, what if someone says watch out for Jill, she is a ripoff and gives no other information. What if they say Marie and we dont know if it is Marie Osmond, Marie Antoinette or some other Marie?  I think you get my point and I am trying to make an honest one here because even with solid, well known references I have had a similar issue affect me.

Names should not be used on this forum for negative press unless there is concrete information that can be backed up.  I agree with Puck on the rest, just not on this name issue.

The other thing that has to be considered is that no providers that I know are using their real name and can/will change them at a drop of a hat.  Many of the customers use their real first names because it is required for verification.  It is really difficult to change those at will.
 
This is a very fine line to walk and not to be taken lightly.

Neither the anonymous poster nor I said that nobody named Ed should get laid.

What was said was that if you are a provider and a former client named 'Ed' should call you out of the blue to recommend a person you know nothing about that maybe, just MAYBE you should AT THE VERY LEAST do your normal job of screening.
