I have done, and continue to do, more than my share of stupid self-destructive things. I do not consider my hobby experiences among them. We make our choices based upon our values and our circumstances. I would have made different choices had my circumstances been different. In that context, I don't regret my decisions. You adapt to your situation. Not intending this post to be critical, rather I would hope you consider that decisions you made in the past were profoundly affected by the context in which you made them. Don't beat yourself up
My journey with this scene started way back in 1989. A quarter of a century. 25 years ago. Definitely pre-dated TER, and also pre-dated. The internet itself was in infancy back then. So many things have changed, but then again so many things have stayed the same. My experiences have ranged from absolutely thrilling and wonderful, to absolutely terrifying and horrible. That's probably true for many of you.
This community, and the predecessors before it, have been invaluable during my pursuits. I wish everyone on both sides of the fence nothing but the best.
I'll keep my reasons for checking out personal. In any case, what it comes down to is regrets. If I could go back 25 years, knowing what I know today, would I still choose the same path? No way to know for sure, but I'd like to think I would not.
A very active street scene around Nicolet and Lake streets in Mpls, and also University Ave in St Paul. Massage parlors in similar locales. There were small ads placed in the back few pages of City Pages (I think origination of the name/site "Backpage"). There was a little flier type magazine too, but I can't remember the name of it now. I think Menaje was featured on one of its covers. Menaje also used the names Samantha and Jaden.
Speaking of Menaje, she has always been one of my all-time favorites. Those of you still in touch with her UTR should consider yourselves very lucky indeed. Going way back, I would add Sammi the beautiful blonde, Julia the redhead, Kasha (yes, Kasha36DD), and Tuzdae to that list. There have been other wonderful ladies along the way too, but those I just mentioned will always be remembered fondly (well, MOSTLY fondly)

I am imagining a scene out of Iceberg Slim's "Pimp"....
Tuzdae was my first experience. She took a chance on me when I did not know anyone. She was wonderful. I hope she is happy and doing well. I would love to see her again .

Adios amigos!
Good luck with things. I myself have been less involved in the scene for the last 6 or 8 years because of family, career, all the normal life reasons. Everyone has reasons for changing interests, the scene was so much better years ago when the incall parlors still existed, the Metropolitan Forum was the place to find information on where to go and who to see, and LE was much less involved in our hobby. Life should be lived with no regrets and remember the good times had.
