A couple of days ago I helped her get a greendot card when I took her out for a real meal and gave her a little cash. She thinks the greendot card will allow people who want to help her make a contribution to her anonymously. Hopefully she will post something once it is set up.
BTW, the house was pancaked by a huge, I really mean huge (82" diameter trunk), tree during the tornado. It was the only house completely destroyed in that storm. Her car and work truck (for another occupation) were also destroyed and she did not have comprehensive insurance so is without transport (still). She lost everything. Nothing has been saved or recovered from the house(except her dogs who were in a kennel int the back of the house. An antique hutch had propped up the second floor temporarily there allowing her to get them out after breaking a window and crawling in. Absolute miracle. I helped her get clothes and food the next day and some cash, but she is still really struggling. So if anyone can help that would be great for her. FEMA denied the state the ability to call the area a federal disaster zone this week, so no real help there either. Red cross paid for her dogs to be housed by the humane society for two weeks, but that is almost up and she may have to let one go or both. After all the original loss, this feels like a horrendous final blow. I know she is completely torn up by it.
Tom, thanks for the update. Bikrgirl, I hope you'll post the greendot card information so we can pitch in. It may not be much, but hopefully it will help.
