I love art, the theater, ballet, and to wine and dine.
I will be Downtown for 4 days...your favorite spots?
I won't have a car.

Thanks!  Looking forward to my first visit!

Arts:
The Minneapolis Institute of Arts has a show of Chinese Terracotta Warriors and a good permanent collection.
The Walker Art Museum has a very good collection of modern art.
There is a private collection at the Chambers hotel that is supposed to be very good.

Theatre:
Check out the Guthrie Theatre for current shows.
There are several theatres downtown offering traveling shows from Broadway.

Wine and Dine:
Haskell's is the best wine shop in the state with a downtown location.
If you want a restaurant recommendation, give me some insight as to cuisine.  There are a lot of good eateries downtown.  For Seafood, the Oceanaire.  For Steak, Manny's, Murray's, Capital Grille, Fogo de Chao, etc...

Use caution negotiating downtown, particularly the warehouse district, after dark.

Stroll across the stone-arch bridge over the Mississippi River. Great views in all directions.

Walk around Lake of the Isles. 2.2 miles. In the heart of Kenwood neighborhood where OLD MONEY first congregated in this town. The Fall leaves are spectacular this year.

Check out the Walker Art Museum and the Sculpture Garden across the street.

Check out a Nice Ride bike, or rent a better one, and go for a ride around the whole chain of lakes just West of downtown Minneapolis. Or many other bike trails the hotel concierge can get you a map of.

Nice weather is really hanging on this year so take advantage.

which is more than a museum; it has film, performance art, dance, music.  Check its website.  The Weissman Art Museum at the University of Minnesota (a quick cab ride from downtown) is a Frank Gehry-designed small museum with mostly modern art.  If you're downtown, stroll over to the Chambers Hotel when you have an hour or two free. It's got a small gallery, art throughout the hotel, video art on the upper floors in the hallways, and graffiti art in the stairwells.

Food:  Bachelor Farmer, in the Warehouse District downtown, is in the first rank of restaurants in the cities -- it's scandanavian food, and surprisingly good.

Excellent recommendations U2NG.
Especially a local tradition, Murrays.

And no, questions like this one from an out-of-town provider don't show up that often, especially asking about local things to see and do. Yes, we get the common question about "where should I stay". But this was a chance for you to offer a couple of ideas instead of being quite snarky in your response.
Of course she's using the discussion board for marketing purposes- in fact, you posted this last June-

I thought hers was nicely done-and creative also.  Maybe you have something against out of town gals??

... and are actively being used for traveling Broadway shows and music venues. The theaters themselves are visually stunning.

I so appreciate the warm welcome and all the wonderful suggestions you all have given me.
I love to explore new places.  I am just settling in out West after 5 years in the Boston area, so I've got my explorere hat on.
See you in a week and do look me up when you come to Vegas this winter!!

I was not trying to be snarky, just give her the same hints everyone gave me when I asked these questions. And yes, we have answered this question recently.

I do NOT have anything against out of town gals!

This was NOT for marketing purposes...

1) I did not link my site
2) That is NOT my pic, which was cleared up later down in the thread when gents were clearly confused. (They still are, received an email today saying how beautiful that pic is of me... sorry its NOT me!)
3) I ask a question that is about how parents feel about visiting their kids at college.... not about what to do around here or say that I'm visiting or anything. This was an honest question.
