Why did a thread just disappear?

Because someone took it just that one step too far, linking to a news story that outed a provider's name. As near as I can figure, the only reason for doing so was - because they could.

Please, think. You are putting people at risk when you do that.

it was your persistent posting of links to news stories with the provider's name.

Epic fail, indeed.

Most Importantly:  I would like to apologize to everyone for the anything-but-slight mishap.  You see, if there's one thing anyone should know about me right off the bat, it's that I am a dumbass and I never should have graduated high school.  I would never EVER, E-VER intentionally out anyone here except maybe myself.

I know.  And outing was certainly not the point!

I can certainly own up to it, too.  Short of not posting it, I could have and indeed should have re-read the articles and gone, "Duh!"

But, being who and what I am, I didn't.  And while I would hardly call two postings persistent, the point is well-taken, as it was when I had read previous postings of similar topics.

This gives me pause and further opportunity to think whether or not I do in fact belong or deserve to be here, as was also previously uh...argued.  This is not a place for mistakes like the one I made.  Perhaps I should have made my break from the board permanent.

And, Puck, I feel I too owe you for removing it!  I actually feel better being outed myself here...but believe me folks I have a history of beating myself up for stupid mistakes as long as the history of making them.

Have to wonder though, if it was even posted, why weren't the links checked before hand?  I don't know all the technical, behind-the-scenes ins and outs, but it would make sense for the links to have been checked before the post was approved to be on the board, no?  But again, I don't know how it all works so I guess that's just not a very valid argument, as now that I think on it, that should have been MY OWN damn responsibility.

Scheiße bumst Pisse

But enough of my bullshit, right?  Please, debate away and feel free to bash and junk...you can even e-mail me your anger and so on and so forth, but I won't be back for awhile.  Take comfort in that.

Again everyone, for what it's worth, humble apologies all around.  Puck, I owe you a beer or...five.

Hi Blueboy......I realize that you're relatively new to the board, so I'm giving you another point of view.  I don't know of any provider who would appreciate others in the hobby knowing her real name or where she really lives (or lived).  The latter-mentioned information item can easily be cleaned from news articles and police reports.

Think of it another way.......if you had been part of a bust/sting or whatever, would you want your real information mentioned and bantered about on here?

to figure this stuff out so there is no need for anyone here to post the obvious!

If an article contains personal information, especially the name, of a provider or the hobbyist what purpose could there be in posting it here?

Unless the poster is moderated in which case the moderator may.

and I think I speak for all the ladies when I say that we value our privacy and do not want nor do we appreciate the leaking of our personal information.

That said, the man has apologized to the board, the ladies and to Puck.  It is obvious that he feels terrible and is beating himself up over this lack of good judgement.  He's made a newbie mistake but we've ALL made newbie mistakes at one time or another.  Hopefully, he'll learn from this and learn to play nice here.

Now, I do believe there have been some who have made similar mistakes who are NOT newbies and who should have known better!

My .02 cents,
Belinda

Forgive the ugly headline brothers and sisters, but those words are actually what this Einstein said to me on another post, on a different subject.

I wonder who feels like a piece of shit now.

I'll give you one piece of advice. Don't ever attack someone who has done nothing to you. The karmic repercussions can be a motherfuckin bitch.

It was an easy mistake to make but he's apologized for it so let's move on.

I wasn't referring to YOUR post, but rather the subject of it, which was about a supposed bust.  That thread generated lots of talk, finally resulting if I remember correctly, in the conclusion that whoever posted it was LE or something.

Your post in particular was a valid question, and I apologize for not being clear, and for offending you.
