Seriously?

It's absolutely no secret that providers are at extra risk of being crime victims because of the issues they have going to the police to report these crimes.

Heard this interview on public radio yesterday. The provider offers a counter to the standard narrative of the "exploited" prostitute. She also candidly shares her experience of the dangers providers face.

In the event that the woman interviewed checks this board --- I want to express my sincere thanks for your honesty. Thank you for your willingness to engage in this conversation with such thought-provoking answers.

I hope this article and recorded interview is seen/heard by many people outside this forum, and that this provider suffers no backlash because she had the courage to speak out candidly regarding her experiences and views.

She just confirmed to  all potential criminals/rapist that it's ok to rape/robbed a provider because provider will not report the criminals. Dumbest interview of the year, not surprise she also confirmed she's a mental case. A lot of providers have some mental/drug issues.

...I would request an appointment with her at her earliest convenience, this woman has the guts to talk about sex work on public radio & she deserves thanks from us customers & all the other providers, & NPR deserves thank's for airing this interview.

I am really glad I caught the interview on NPR. I think it is really important to reduce the stigma around sex workers. Even when I was a dancer I felt like it was always awkward when I friend would ask what I did for work and I would say, "I'm a dancer". It was just very unpleasant to admit to some people. Now I just say I'm in between jobs and caring for my sick parents  (I'm not dancing anymore).
