With my ATF, that I've been donating her a fixed amount at beginning of month for an unlimited visit if our schedules are free. Typically only met up twice a week due to distance and our busy schedules.
Anyway, last night as I was pumping her, she started to cry, not a little cry, but sobbing. I wanted to stop, but she said go until I finished. I couldn't finished and went limp after about 15 seconds. We spent the rest of the time just talking, and seems like this time of the year she always feeling depressed and stressed out. I had no idea, this time of the year always been my favorite and happiest.
Everyone I know always happy this time of the year. So, got me thinking, do people really get depressed or stressed out during the holidays?
Those who don't have families, or have family issues, have a feeling of being "left out" of the holiday cheer. I have some personal experience with this. In '88, when I was 13, one of my aunts died from cancer a week before Xmas. For the next 10 years, there was a string of constant deaths in the family, 9 out of 10 occurred around the holidays. I used to get suicidally depressed this time of year. This season is the first holiday season in 30 something years that I haven't been depressed. I'm just "blah" this time around.
Wow, sorry to hear. Guess, I'm lucky nothing bad has ever happened to me or my family this time of year. Glad it's the past for you now.

When I was in high school, my ROTC officers told me that Thanksgiving has the highest rate of suicides (attempted included) for teens and adults. It seems that when someone who is sad or has depression during the holidays feel even more so because people are so overfilled with holiday cheer. They feel that there is something wrong with them because they don't feel the holiday spirit. It also doesn't help that mainstream media is flooded with holiday cheer. That's why we just have to show our love and be compassionate to those who are feeling grumpy or grinch-like. Mainstream media condemns those who don't participate. It's just consumerism at its best (jk, I mean at its worst). Personally, my family does a white elephant gift exchange, since there are so many of us, and exchange unwanted gifts with each other.
Yeah, I get it now. It's like when my team lost the big game and half of the other people are celebrating.
