If you wouldn't say it to someone's face, keep it off the board.

I'd love to see price issue posts go to the wayside.  See who you can afford, don't try to price gouge those you can't afford.  I've heard complaints from both ladies and gent's regarding this.

I'd like to see more people moderated and more moderators. SRV, you're doing a great job, but either more need to be moderated or there needs to be more who can act quickly when there's a security issue like what just happened.  Definitely those not on a power trip or would use their position to get one-up on anyone.

I see every board go through burps from time to time, lets not make it a habit to say things we wouldn't say face to face.

Free speech is a wonderful thing when you agree with what's being said.  Censorship is attractive when you disagree.  It depends upon whose ox is being gored.

We are not talking about censorship here - we are talking about discretion and the safety of all of us on the boards.

Of course she was talking about censorship.  What else is prescreening posts by moderators to see if they should be allowed to post?

Okay then I will speak for myself - "I" wasn't talking about censorship, I just would like to see posts looked over before they are placed on the boards for personal contact info.  Nothing for content - just phone numbers, addresses, etc.

Ask Misty yourself if you think she wants total censorship

When all I hear from friends is how negative and abusive this board has gotten, yes... I'd like to see some moderation of a few members here.

I miss the days when we all had a ball joking around and everyone was welcome/not picked apart.

As I posted previously, both of my computers were down that day so I had limited access. I try to check the Board at least twic a day to keep up with things.

My reasoning on moderated vs unmoderated is this: I try to allow as many people on unmoderated status as possible to allow for communication on a timely basis. This becomes a double-edged sword when we had the situation we had with Madison. If I try to moderate too many people, I believe that (1) it will cut down on the people posting (2) I'm going to have some pissed off people who feel that they should be unmoderated and (3) I will spend an inordinate amount of time reading posts.

I recently sent a message to my moderator, Girl Next Door, to check out the amount of posts and posters we have on our Board. Notwithstanding the latest bruhaha, there would be days with 40+ postings. Look back at when we first started and see how slow the posting were as compared to the present.

As far as replacing me with another moderator who has more time or adding a second moderator, I'll leave that up to the Staff. I would encourage anyone who would like to see changes made to simply send an email to "Staff" and let them know what you think. I think everyone who has been on this Board long enough knows that I wouldn't retaliate in any way should any changes be made.

With that said, I wish everyone a safe and happy Holiday season!

I don’t consider “banter” to be my #1 priority.  That said, I also don’t believe it’s my role, or anyone else’s, to tell other members what they should, or shouldn’t chose to discuss.   If bantering is what you’re looking for here, banter away!  It’s an open board.  Nobody is stopping you.  Start bantering away and like minded members can join in with you.  Those who don’t wish to banter can just ignore your posts, and you can just ignore all the topics that irritate you.

You were not responsible for what happened.  If you’d been able to get online quicker the problem could have been rectified sooner, but the violation would have still occurred.  I don’t think the answer is to put everyone on moderated status.  That would totally kill the natural message flow, and I don’t believe it’s needed.  I think those in favor of such a plan also tend to be in favor of “topic moderation.”  I am STRONGLY opposed to that idea!!!  I think you are doing a fine job as moderator and fully support your efforts.  I sure hope we never see the day when a bunch of new moderators, with different agendas, are added to the forum to decide which topics are worthy of discussion!  THAT would be the ultimate death blow to this forum.  Too many cooks spoil the broth.  Too many moderators spoil a forum.  I’ve seen this happen before.

SRVfan Thanks for being so humble as to be willing to air out
your reputation as board mod, But just so you know! I see no
reason for anyone to question your performance thus far in
watching over this board, keep up the good work and happy
holidays to you also.

Not sure who "they" are, but some of the most personal back and forths on this board are between providers, not between providers and clients.  The mod recent removed a very personal back-and-forth between two providers (and I'm not talking about the Madison thread) which included info about their personal lives.  Some between-provider stuff is still posted on the board.

Also, who gets to choose who should be moderated?  Do we vote?

Just asking!

You are doing a good job but how about a substitute when you can't be there. To have to be the mod 365 days a year is unreasonable, some help might be in order.

Ok here goes again.  SRV, you're doing a great job, but I think with the increased volume comes a time for additional help.  I don't care who you choose as long as they're as light handed as you.

Some fools need moderating, most don't.  I'm not talking changing topics or anything like that.

I think every person here would agree that if it was their phone number and name posted, you would want it down immediately.
