I found TER through links that were links to items posted on Jakes web site. I had no idea (yea I was naive) that the hobby existed.
I tried sooooo many different ways to hook up with strippers that it (and probably I) was a joke. The strippers saw me coming and milked me for all I was worth. I travel, and it was pretty much the same story every town. Bumb and grind - lead the customer on - then leave me high and dry. The best line I heard from a stripper is - Your gonna get fucked - but you aint gonna get laid honey!!!. Not thier fault - my fault. If I was stupid enough to give them my money, they should take it. Point is, I didn't know there was an alternative. Dancers are Dancers - they are not providers. While some may do both and one may lead to the other, the truly great providers, the one's with the highest reviews, go well beyond the slap the hat on - put it in, pull it out see ya later routine.
TER to me is a great tool. It has allowed me to get out of the strip clubs and into the hobby. If it were not for TER, I would still be sitting in strip clubs and probably still trying to see how it is you find that right dancer to fufill your needs. I would not have known that I was searching in the wrong area (tap your heels together and say it with me....."there's nothing like a great provider..... there's nothing like a great provider") and that dancers probably will not ever be able to fufill the need I was looking for.
I party more when I am out of town then I do locally for reasons I am sure you all understand. I have had the great privalage of meeting both Catherine and Madison. While I am not a regular by any means, I felt a strong connection with both of them and would consider them friends. Fair or unfair, they are the two that I compare others against. If the opportunity presents itself, (ie... mrs fatmanmn is out of town for an extended period) I would hope they would both see me again. I look forward to their posts on the boards - and as you can tell - I look forward to responding to them!! They both know my name and I am very comfortable with that. If they needed help, and they contacted me, I would do what I could to help out with full confidence that if I told them I could not help out they would understand. To wrap this thought up - I don't think I would have been able to get that type of relationship (and in my mind there is one) with a dancer / gettho girl. I would have exposed myself to allot of possible risk.
If TER wasn't advertising, I would not have found out about this wonderful hobby. I would not have had the privalge to meet the wonderful people I have - and on the flip side, learned some of the lessons I have learned as well. There are risks and ass holes in all walks of lives. We all meet them and have to deal with them. Some are our bosses and some are our clients.
The very nature of the provider job is filled with risk. From LE to ass holes to health issues. I know I could not do the job you do. Catherine has said it many times before that the best rise to the top. The best in all areas. The best providers, the best clients and the best method of bringing the two together. If too many ass wholes and loneys get on the board, then the board will start to loose it's effectiviness and will end up loosing rather then gaining customer share. Screening is best for all. For providers to weed out the loneys and possible le. For clients to weed out the gettho girls and scammers.
Guess that's probably more then you all wanted to hear!!!

My post would be nearly identical--happened onto TER from the Jakes link, although I had never tried to get the fuse lit with any dancers. My very first exposure to the hobby in any way was through TER. Like FM, I have had the opportunity to meet several gals on the "A" list, and in a few of these cases, the relationships have evolved into something really special. Like FM, the nature of the hobby and of those relationships is very different (and much better) from what I expected. I doubt I would be saying that, were it not for TER.
TER's advertising deserves the credit for getting me "in the door", but that's where it ends for me. My staying inside the door is based on the really great experiences I've had since then. And I doubt that that the providers I've seen have any idea how much those great experiences with them have really meant to me. (Shame on me)
Now that I've been in the hobby for a while, I have an "A list" in my head of several providers I've seen or want to see, and my dependence on TER has faded quite a bit.
I think the hard part to remember is that TER isn't really in this for us, they're in it to make a living. They get paid by having people sign up as members, not by being fair to the providers or looking out for the health of the industry. We have to be careful not to extend to TER some altruistic motive or assume that they'll do what's best for the local scene.
Like I Could realy use a visit with both you and Catherine at the same time...

I may have overreacted I was just plain fedup with with whackos I guess I was spoiled hee....it was once the highlight of the week to tell a grirlfriend about "A" whacko but when you become bombarded with them it makes the phone and email less inviting....anywho I have the itch to travel over christmas but everytime I travel alone I find myself in some wonderful place masterbating ALONE!!!Then I say to myself never again will I go alone..so if anybody knows of a man whore for hire that I can take to the UK let me knowgiggle!~

We have such a good thing going with sites like TER. They have made a tremendous improovement in the "quality" of the "hobby",both for the gals and the guys. Like many "good" things ,over exposure(like City Pages) is not good. I think that TER objectives and ours are at cross purposes. TER wants lots of subscribers for income. We would like to maintain a smaller,more select group for safety ,intimacy,etc. This is one of those things we cannot control and have to accept and adjust to.
I think the requiring of references from another known provider for a new client is a big step towards safety for the gals.This has become quite common across the country.
As far as wacko emails, phone calls,and postings,we are at the mercy of modern technology,really no way to screen them out.
I would hate to see the wackos ruin it for the rest of us,guys and gals who enjoy it so much.

I've been taking a break from the ladies for a while. Personal reasons; I keep meaning to make appointments with some of the ladies I haven't had a chance to meet yet, but usually about the time I start getting the urge, something happens to smack me down again.
Of course, so many of the ladies I don't know, and many of the ones I do know aren't around anymore, so I get the feeling I will pretty much have to start over, because so many of the ladies have a policy requiring references.
I understand that this is for their protection, and I am completely and vigorously for that. I understand why the ladies feel a need for protection; there are a lot of creepy folks out there.
One of the really nice things about this board is the interaction, where us guys get to know the ladies as people and vice-versa. Over time, we get to see some ups and downs, but overall it's a good thing.
So when a whole slough of new guys come in looking for just one thing, it's a little... demeaning?
OTOH, I think maybe I was like that once, so many years ago. I'm glad I've changed, but if I can change, so can some of the new guys. And you know, there may be a few of 'em out there lurking, getting to understand the way things work.
In the long run, maybe it's a good thing. In the short run... well, it's a pain in the a$$.

oh those were the days. free site, honest opinions, well educated, well traveled, tech savvy, generally clean smelling guys who were looking for some simple fun. reports from around the world. now the internet is full of spam. everyone needs to make a buck to get out of the rat race, and the rat race has found the net.
well, the more people who catch on to something, the more crass it seems to become..... and the more commercial. and then finding the good guys takes screening, and then everything becomesz complicated.... whew. suddenly it is like the state fair full of sloppy weirdoes looking for something cheap and sticky but always complaining. darn. maybe i should go back to throwing parties at my house? no, better yet, someone else should step up and we can all blow off and steam and other things!
what this town needs is what places like Austria, Ottawa, Toronto and Britian have.... good calling services... we need 1-800-goo-dguy .... dial down the center. or maybe a $$ only bulletin board like clubhombre (my fave)

Yeah, talk about corporatization! They should call em "the Reader" it always imagined it was more sophisticated entertainment....
Also about calling up ads in the back. Its even more dangerous now than it was back then. I remember think the .net was such a godsend because I was finally able to see what the ladies looked like, have some decent conversation, establish firm rates, and get out of the ghetto culture that pervaded the escort biz.
How many old timeres remember these: bait and switch "oh, she is not here, but I look just like her". or the outright lie "I am 23, 5'6" 125 36d." and then they show up 40lbs heavier 2 inches shorter, etc.
Remember the old response to the question "what do you look like?:..... "oh honey, what do you want me to look like" HAH
Then there was the fee situation: "for $25 more, I will remove my shirt, for $25 more I will stop smoking in your bedroom," LOL.
And then the thugs and pimps and drivers. Some dumb ass who sat right outside your house in some rusting bonneville listening to rap and trying to look discreet. Or the girl showing up in fishnets. Or getting some underage girl and realizing here life was a living hell of manipulation by some punks out of st. louis using her to run contraband on the Greyhound and then paying for her ticket back with... well you get the picture.
And worst of all the coked out dumbasses who think they can case your place or do "run off".
actually some agencies offered some pretty good service guarantees. it took awhile to find them. they were all bad, but viola, LE had to crack down on all of em. but this also helped the rise of independent, was infinitely better until the independents starting getting outrageously busy.
The net helped to legitimize and decriminalize (alot like some of the european laws) the industry. smart girls and guys realized that they could set up dates on AOL.... afterall, they were getting hit on every 2 seconds anyway. Why not charge for a date? using the net, they could even exchange photos, talk about kinks, and feel something warm. but it wasn't long before the losers started showing up. sorry, I am just in a cynical mood. i think we can still sort through the static and find good ones. -badSmurf
