I remember many of the places that you mentioned in your post.  Was the place you had the scary experience The Riverside Health Club on E Lake not too far from the bridge.  I went there once and was offered no extras, not even a HJ.
Sauna 27 just around the corner of Lake and 27th Ave S had a hot girl named Penny working there, she was the only reason to go there.  That place was a pit, but I do wonder what has ever happened to Penny.
I don't know why there isn't more Asian action in town.  From the past few days discussion on the board, it appears that the demand is here!

All this talk about AMP's not only brings back plenty of fond memories of living overthere, but has caused me to reflect.

Is it just me, or are traditional AMP's jsut really hard to find? I've been to a couple that had the hot asian ladies here in the area, but no happy endings.. heck, even went to Kim Yee's place over on Lake street, and got a decent fun massage, but nothing more...

Am I an idiot? Do I somehow send of LE Vibes now in my middle age?  ( which I can asure you I am not.. I'm kinda the opposite of LE but I look respectable )

is it a dying art ?

Since any of the good ones are gone, no harm can be done to something that doesn't exist any more!

I define "AMP" as any place that has actual "Asians" offering "Massage" from a retail/commercial location(ie; "Parlor") - Just offering "massage" out of an apartment, even though their ethnicity is asian, is not really an "AMP" to me.
 Of the two that I know of left in town (Kim-Y's and VIP massage) they seem to be only left with the old single operator/owner women (YUCK!) that I HOPE don't offer more than a table bath, massage, and maybe a quick tug while I close my eyes and try to imagine what she might have looked like 20 or maybe even 30 years ago!
 I'll openly admit I miss Utopia Health Spa on Lake street the most. It was kind of hit or miss there, but I knew the owner lady well enough to speak plainly with her when I'd call. I could ask her right up front "do you have any young, pretty asian girls there right now?" and she would truthfully tell me who was available or that there was none that I'd like available that day. She would also say if she was expecting any young ones in the future and when to check back.
 I saw MANY hot 18-25 yr. old asian girls there over the years, She also always had the ugly old trolls on staff regularly, so I believe the horror stories that some guys tell about how bad it was there, but I know for a fact that it was not always true.
 On the other hand, Yoshiko's on Washington, formerly next to sexworld, was much like Kim-Y's, in that I NEVER saw anyone hot or young there! I tryed several times over the years, Always the asian owner lady, (Phillapino Sue) and a few fat older white women, nothing to ever want any xtras from! I even got a phone # from them so I could call ahead and see who was there - and they would lie to me, every time!
  I remember another AMP way further east on Lake St. than Kim-Y's (I forgot the name) I had a scary, nasty experence there and never returned!
  Then there was Cosmos, I had just figure out the "secret kiss" and was all ready to jump right in and they got busted........
  Jenny's place over off Broadway and University was the last semi-AMP that I kenw of that had any HOT YOUNG asian girls working (Lily and Amee) Amee was absolutely Beautiful! Lily was cute, but had big nasty tattoos and too many rules! - But ch9 news fucked that one up for us!
 And out there somewhere is MassageMastors, which used to be downtown by the dome, but has moved somewhere else since they started renovating the Sexton building - A TOTAL RIP-OFF! and it is too bad, because he always has some hot young Asian girls working their way through school giving nude massage, expecting you to jerk yourself while they only let you touch them in a very limited way........ NO EXTRAS!
That's what I remember for actual "Asian" Massage Parlors in this fine city of ours......

What does anyone else remember?

What I have heard from discussions with veterans of the local scene is that LE takes a dim view these days of AMPs and similar places (maybe they are just too public?) so they tend to get shut down.  It was before my time so I have no direct experience.

Thanks Ben for reminding me why it is that I love AMP's. Now if they were just still around :)

Here is the thing, I have found that there is just something nice about the whole atmosphere involved in a decent AMP from the nice lighting, to the little robes, to the shower/sauna/ great massage... It jsut seems like I was more well, Pampered when I went to one.

(Live in Asia for a few years, then on Guam, then come back to the states, and you will find yourself going thru withdrawl sysmtoms)

The thing is this, while I appreciate the HJ or more that I could get from some of the places, it was also the feeling that they actually tried to make me feel better. well, that, and hot young asian girls are indeed fun to look at.

Why I wonder is it that LE seems so proud that they can close these places down? I mean honestly, thats like going fishing in the trout farm... they are not exactly trying ot hide what they do, they are not trying to hopelessly exploit people, they are simply providing a service.. hell, if I want some sex, why not jsut go out and find a random girl in a bar.. but when I want to RELAX... when I want to come away feeling like I did more than Cum, I used to enjoy spending an hour or three in a good AMP...

Does anyone else think that the girls working in those places do a better job of Time management.. and of not appearing to watch the clock than lots of providers?

Hopefully there will be more tha open up in the area. Hopefully I'll learn the secret kiss or wahtever you were talking about before things get closed back down.

*shrug* perhaps it was back when I was first overseas when a buddy and I spent something like 30 hours in a small parlor on a side street in Subic... where the Mamsan let us crash, and we played pool, sauna'd, and generally goofed around with the girls...and instead of an hour, we left the next day :) feeling like, hey, everyone was enjoying themselves..

I don't remember the AMP's here in Minnesota but I sure do remember the real thing in Thailand.  Go to a hotel, trot on down to the message place and have a couple of beers.  Take a look at the multitude of young lovlies behind the glass, take your pick and the talk with the young lovely for awhile (it helps if you speak Thai).  Of course, if you hit it off you go back into a private room with a bed, bath, and maybe an air matress for some hot, soapy fun.  I remember meeting an extreemly pretty  Thai girl this past summer working at a local hotel.  I saw her a couple of times.  After the first time, when I would walk into the bar she would find me and sit down.  Some of the most intense, multiple cup, release I've ever had (about $30).  Hey guys, it's only $1400 for RT airfair to Thailand and then let the fun begin.
