I would like to hear from a providers perspective once  she has confirmed the hobbyists, what is the need to keep the information?

I can see the need the keep some type of information for a reference ie: first name, TER handle maybe a phone number with a thumbs up or down. Beyond that any additonal information is NOT needed!  Should this information that is in provider databases fall into the wrong hands...all hell could break loose and create a huge issue that will make Hiedi Fliess look like a walk in the park.

General feeling I am hearing is that hobbyists are getting VERY nervous bout giving out all this info. Maybe RSk2000 is the way to go.

Thoughts?

I have been touting RS2K for approximately 3 years here, and have largely been ignored.  I appreciate someone else bringing up the idea!  They have been in business for 20+ years with no problems - no abuse, no funny business - for clients or providers.  The safety part of RS2K is that it is purely a verification service - nothing else.  To all of you concerned about discretion - I have many many high profile clients in Chicago that swear by the service they provide.  There is no hassle with references, no worrying about someone remembering you, no time delay so same day meetings are so much simpler.

I personally keep no information, other than e-mail addresses for gentlemen that wish to be contacted when I return to an area.  I see no point in jeopardizing any of my clients' futures, regardless of my own convenience or whatever the hell the reason would be for keeping a database.  I have had my ass chewed before for not keeping information, but I believe discretion is in the best interests of all parties.

That innocent woman, is she savvy enough to keep her personal affairs out of reach?  Is your computer clean of any trail leading to sex for money?

Who's the problem, the hobbyists who are feeding their ego's and spreading rumors or the paranoid woman with the need to keep years of records online.  Just exactly how do you avoid these problems with a reference service?  Will paying someone $50 do anything, but create a false sense of security.  You still have to give your name and cell number for a date to transpire.

As for the hobbyist.  2-3-60-80 reviews are an account of all the sordid details of your affairs left out there for anyone to read.  What about your emails and groups you belong to, your IP address is the cyber equivelant to footprints in the snow.

I've learned two very important lessons:  Those calling under the guise of friendship will suck your blood and point in all directions while wiping their chin of your remains.  And, hobbyists with the need to be public in any way about their private affairs are to be avoided.

Misty why do you need to use an Alias?  Obviously you have something to say. I see no reason to hind behind an Alias

I just replied to a post below about someone seeking a provider in Iowa.  Do you know of any leads in the Des Moines area that I might try to follow up on?

because some idiot kept years of information about many hobbyists and providers online in her yahoo account (easily hacked) get back and tell me if it's still something trivial.

I'm sorry if I bothered you with such trivial posts.

Umm, yeah, what MDL said.

I have had providers call me when I asked them not to call.  OK, whatever.  I have also had tjem send me UNSOLICITED emails, with a batch of TER lads cc'ed.  That is how I know about a guy who works at a local glass co.

How's that for poor discretion?  I also have had providers know who I am, TER handle and phone, after a year and a half gap in service.

These girls keep records.

Lets just put it this way....IU would consider how you have your passwords structured on any accounts and they should be changed from time to time.

Lately I have been a bit lax on changing some of my passwords bu...not any longer! I have a number of different email accounts.  If one of them is changed it will automatically sent an email to one of my other accounts immediately!

In our information age society, this will only get worse before it gets better!

A provider keeping hobbyists' personal information in a database? I'm mystified who would do that?

There have been numerous discussions on various hacker web sites that discuss the ability to hack into various email accounts including Juno, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc. You basically have to assume that if someone targets you that there is not much that they can't get into (legal or not). I was talking to another provider a few weeks ago who suspected that her email had been compromised. Someone had sent her a copy of her public court records with no explanation included. It just so happens that she had been discussing her court appearances via email with a friend the week before. She now refuses to use her email at all.
I certainly don't put any personal information into my emails and I would strongly recommend that all other hobbyists and providers do the same.

I wish I had better news for you, but Iowa is almost devoid of quality providers anywhere in the state, at least with an online presence.  I am in far north Iowa, but make trips to DSM occassionally, and IowaHotty is in the eastern part of the state, but I believe mainly focuses on Chicago like I focus on Minneapolis.  There are a few that pop through visiting, and you can usually catch their posts on the so-called "other board".

If you want someone more local......  I will wish you good luck, because I have been wanting someone to be able to recommend there myself!  I have tried bringing a couple ladies in, but they are all so agency brainwashed it's scary!

Good luck!

Some of the Ladies have good memories. When they remember something about me, it doesn't worry me, it flatters me. I have only had one that crossed the line and made an unsolicited sales call to me on my cell phone. I think she knew by my surprise and the tone of my voice that this was the wrong thing to do. She was only in business for about a year.
