I have been reading the current posts on the average of $300/hour lately, and thought that I'dd add my two cents worth.
As an owner of my own small bussiness, I can see some of both sides. One of my complaints is this: I have spent well over $250,000 on equipment and 10 years of my life to get experince and training before I started my business that charges only $75/hr. And believe you me, when a customer is not 100% happy with my work, I will not get paid untill they are. Sometimes this requires doing the job over for free, or reducing my rate on the job just to keep everyone happy.
Repeat business is very important to me, as a hobbiest I do not repeat with a provider very often. Maybe that should say something to those of you with little repeat bussiness.
I make a comfortable living by treating my customers with respect and getting the job done right/ taking pride in my work.
When visiting with a provider it is a business transaction and should always be treated as such. I would frequent this hobby much more often if i felt it was not a roll of the dice evertime you made the call. Also, I am a varity man, I like to try different ladies when I get the chance to partake.

Turgid--I'm not trying to be contrarian here, but I do have specific evidence to the contrary. The big push to 300 hit the twin cities in the early spring of 2001 and by June, 300 had become very wide spread. The big influx of Floridians started in November 2001, leveled off about the summer of 2002 (partly because of LE stirring the pot a bit) and has really picked up radically again since December 2002.
Certainly there were some travelers here prior to the big hike, but it was a tiny trickle compared to today.

I will second that. Those are the two best TJ clubs for a newbie gringo. Plenty of selection in the evenings. Adelita's has the most chicas, usually 40-50 chicas, mostly ages 18-25, costs ranging $40-70 for a half hour, plus $10 or so for the room at the hotel next door. Longer times, nicer rooms also available for more $.
The zona norte where the hobby is regulated and legally tolerated, is a 4-6 block area. There are dozens of bars, the others are more Mexican-oriented. Those are good to try if you speak some spanish.
Las Chavelas, which is next door to Adelita's, is good.
There are also lower-cost street girls lining some of the blocks, but they are of lesser quality, and might not have up-to-date health cards. The clubs make sure all their girls are checked regularly.
