As someone relatively new to this pursuit, and someone who absolutely cannot afford to meet up with the law, any hints on how to avoid such a mishap?  Does anyone know the penalty for getting 'busted' in pursuing this hobby?  Thanks.

Rob, the men AND WOMAN in blue are currently fighting a war with terrorism, so as long as you don't solicit some young woman,or man, along Lake Street, I doubt you are a high priority for LE. Use common sense, treat the providers with respect, and have fun!

If you stick with the ladies you find here on TER I imagine you will be fine.  Regardless, if you are ever in a situation where something doesn't feel right, listen to that feeling, shut up, and hang-up, walk away, whatever is appropriate.  I don't know what the penalty is but a little searching on Google should tell you what you need to know for your jurisdiction.
