As members of TER’s Minnesota board, people may know you, but how good does anyone really know anyone? Often times when reading the words of many of our posters, I try imagine what this person is like in the real world. Many of you show your true depth of feelings while others are bold and business like. Of course we are all incognito, but would you like to know a little about the person behind the alias? We all have a common interest and that is why we have come together, let’s have some fun!
We read the posts, we read the reviews and check the personal websites, we can glean a small part of who you are. But for today, let’s have a Virtual TER Cocktail Party and share two things about yourself that you are comfortable sharing that no one here knows.
So come on in, grab a drink and a comfortable chair, the chips and dip is over there --
I will start…..
I always thought when I grew up I would be a photographer, funny thing; Today, I don’t even own a camera.
I love to listen to the acoustic sunrise on cities 97 on Sunday mornings.
let's get drunk and see how much more we share LOL
I love photography too. Some art can reach one's soul.
I listen to a local women's talk channel. I have called in several times as an escort to enlighten women who call in with sexual problems.
I want to purchase a second home in Rincon, PR on the beach and realize my dream of being an artist.
You would get a woman drunk to get her to spill all her secrets! Shame, shame, SHAME on you! LOL
"I listen to a local women's talk channel. I have called in several times as an escort to enlighten women who call in with sexual problems."
Do you think that 'sexual problems' are really problems or simply a lack of communication between partners?
"I want to purchase a second home in Rincon, PR on the beach and realize my dream of being an artist."
Rincon, PR(Peru?) What type of art do you like to create? Painting(watercolors, oils) Sculpting (clay, pottery, foreign materials) or more of photography art?
Alcohol, the social lubricant.
The local show I listen to is topic driven. There are many reasons relationships don't thrive. Communication is one. The underlying problem is usually another. Lack of trust or acceptance. Differences of life goals and personality disorders...
Rincon is on the western side of Puerto Rico. A beautiful, underdeveloped bedroom community for surfers and artists. Whale watching, surfing, deep sea fishing, diving, art and beautiful scenery. You can walk for miles on virgin beaches and never see a soul.
I prefer three dimensional art from sculpture to oils. I acquired an oil while in Rincon, it inspires me.
I find that reading what others write to be incredibly revealing. Personalities show through as well as mannerisms. As little as I like the drama it does provide information on people as to how they think and what kind of people they are on the inside. I often wonder if people read over what they write, or simply write it and post with no inclination as to how it may be percieved by others.
Melissa, we have done a little of this online once before and I was able to learn a little about you while having some fun. Thank you for being creative here on the board!
"I always thought when I grew up I would be a photographer, funny thing; Today, I don’t even own a camera."
Interestingly enough, you may not own a camera, but you do put yourself on the other end of the camera quite well! It may not be a source of income, but I would certainly say that you use cameras to further your love of art and people!
The photos of you show a personal side of you, they are not simply crude shots with a camera phone for the purpose providing what you look like.
"I love to listen to the acoustic sunrise on cities 97 on Sunday mornings." Race cars and the loudness of it all, combined with the rush of speed, I would not have guessed you to like acoustic music, rather hard rock pounding through very large speakers!
Thanks for sharing!
Can people really hide who they are inside or do we sometimes only see the things we want to see and not pick up on the other signs they give off?
I have tens of thousands of pages of written material from poetry, short stories and even one 2800+ handwritten page book all shoved in boxes where nobody can read them.
I have been known to sit in a park or at a party and simply watch people for hours, then speak to a few and see how acurate my thoughts were of them by watching how they interact with the strangers and loved ones around them.
Do you mind putting some clothes on though - its hard to listen to you while being reminded of what I had for dessert.
-Oh, bartend - I would like a dry Bombay Sapphire martini with 3 olives please, and some panties for our nymphomaniacal host Melissa.
I always wanted to live out in San Diego and I have never even visited California. I love rock & roll 80's but growing up listened to a lot of country music. I look forward to the date that I have with one of you this week. I hope to see the other one real soon if things work out.
Hello all! I am Melissa's sister/assistant. I would like to share two things about me, as I feel as though I know a lot of you already from reading the boards, and responding to emails. 1. My ex-husband divorced me because I was to materialistic…..... I don’t even know how to sew!!
2. I always wanted to be a stand up comedian !!
Have a wonderful Sunday and enjoy the sunshine!!
What could possibly be worse than a materialistic comedian? :P I am glad that you are able to laugh and share things. Maybe you should give the stand up thing a shot, what would your ex think if you became a wealthy ex wife with a big house and HIS favorite car!? LOL
Thanks for sharing...have a great day!
My two things are 1. I always dreamed of living in San Diego and I have never even been to California.LOL 2. I love Rock & Roll 80's but growing up listened to a lot of Country music. I look forward to seeing one of you this week and hope to see the other one real soon. thanks
In the eyes of the world (to the extent that the world pays any notice), and as I look at my life, I know that I have been a good father. I am proud of that.
Most days, I spend most of my time alone. That is by choice. But it does make me all the more appreciative of you lovely ladies and the special gifts you so kindly and graciously share - attentiveness, affection, and interludes of intimacy. I am grateful to you. I am thankful for you.
On the southwest side of Puerto Rico, as well as on the island of Viques (sp), there are phosphorescent bays. These are bodies of water filled with plankton that, like fireflies, light up, particularly when disturbed. On a moonless night, with the Milky Way a glittering swath above, you can swim in the bay, and with each movement, a million tiny lights flicker. It is completely enchanting.
Photography? Aw, c'mon Melissa -- you should get, or someone should get you -- a digital camera. It's got two big attributes that film cameras don't: you can shoot as much as you want and never have to buy film. And it give syou the instant gratification of seeing what you've shot. Buy yourself a present and indulge your dream....
Since puberty about 55 years ago, I have longed to be a lover of women, but never had the nerve to pursue this adventure. The connection with these boards in the past two years has allowed me to start to fulfill this dream. By the way, SharonTT is my favorite pen pal, LOL
This is a party????? Eight responses?????!!!!!
I'm jumping into the pool with my clothes on!
Oh, I'm sorry, it's supposed to be more of a cocktail party, huh? OK, I'll sheepishly climb out of the pool, grab a highball and join in on the cocktail conversation, hoping people will ignore that I'm dripping all over the carpeting. Maybe I'll stand a little closer to the fireplace. Ah, the steam coming off of my trousers feels good!
Oh yes, where was I? I enjoy acting -- did it in college and in community theater. For those of us who are on the introverted side, it's a wonderful and dare I say therapeutic way to release your inner self. Playing an angry character, you can vent the frustrations that you weren't able to vocalize to your boss. You can be an English butler, an African tribal leader, Don Juan, a President, a bum or a thousand other characters, all of whom represent a part of yourself that normally never gets a chance to express itself.
Let's see, a second item to share. I used to be a radio disc jockey. Fun to say something that goes out into the invisible world out there and to know that people only know you and form their impressions about you solely from what's in your voice.
["I love to listen to the acoustic sunrise on cities 97 on Sunday mornings." Race cars and the loudness of it all, combined with the rush of speed, I would not have guessed you to like acoustic music, rather hard rock pounding through very large speakers!]
Ah, on the contrary. I, too, am a lover of motor sports but also of quiet jazz. It's not a juxtaposition at all, really. Racing is about noise, speed and heat. But that's just on one level. It also exists on a completely other level -- of motion, symmetry and ballet-like dance.
If you ever watch the great racing movies -- Le Mans, Grand Prix, and God forbid, Days of Thunder, -- they all have fantastically beautiful scenes where the cars race in silence or to classical music. In the blur of color, metal and man, those moments capture the essence of the sport and create a soft music of their own.
A nice Korbel 7 please. Mmmmm, been a while, tastes like more.
In a good conversation with me, you may find I'm an animal rights activist, long to travel to far away places, and enjoy arts of all kind. Yeah, even the ones others may not consider art. But isn't what that art is all about? The eye of the beholder?
Now, who's going to be the first to offer strip poker?
Giggles,
Laura
I normally dont drink much but when I do I love to have me a long island iced tea.
Two things about me most people dont know would be I have a dream to go to Switzerland. I have seen pics of the greenery and mountains just simply gorgeous. The other is when i was young and Ronald Reagan was president I was able to tour the White House (before all the terrorist BS). The place is beautiful especially the formal dining room. The table seats at min 20 people a gorgeous chandelir(sp) above all I can say it was a chance in a life time to actually get a tour of the White House.
The Party was wonderful! Thank you to all that stopped in. Thank you to everyone that took the time to share! I enjoyed learning more about you. No worries about the spilled drinks on the carpet, I know a guy for that. "Wink"
Hi there sweetheart, sorry I missed the party, but if you don't mind I'll throw in my two cents, lol!! I love traveling, sunsets on the beach in Jamaica are awesome...but flip the switch and Vegas rocks also!! Finally, and so sorry for using your name buddy, but yesterday I got Fletched!!! Was bound to happen sooner or later, was getting careless or just didn't care anymore, oh well......
Just Kidding, for the fun of it I looked up the web definition of FLETCHED. But, I know your definition. Sorry, I hope all is well. I miss you and think of you very often.
Thanks sweetheart, all is well...kinda. Hard to keep a good man down...but not always, lol!! Didn't have a problem with the names on my contact list... easy stories, until she came to Bambi...what was I going to do with that name, lol!! Just threw up my arms. laughed and said you got me there. Miss you lots Melissa, take care and hope to make it there soon!!!
