Wow! That was one of the most bitter, sexist, and embarrassingly misinformed rants I’ve read in a long time. It’s giving high school mean-girl energy wrapped in grown-man ignorance. You clearly have no idea how this industry actually functions, nor do you seem to grasp how dangerous and demeaning your words are, not just to middle-aged providers, but to younger ones too.
First off, the ageism and misogyny dripping from your post are astounding. You act like being young and your version of 'hot' makes someone entitled to success. As if professionalism, experience, and client trust don’t count for anything. Hate to break it to you, but looks alone don’t build a business.......reputation, boundaries, work ethic, and consistency do. And guess what? Many of those 'cranky middle-aged women' you insult are the backbone of this industry. They’ve survived it, evolved with it, and most importantly, helped younger providers stay safe and independent in a landscape that doesn’t exactly roll out red carpets for women.
Secondly, your fantasy about this jealous 'gang' of mature schedulers sabotaging the poor young hotties? That sounds more like projection than fact. Maybe — AND HEAR THIS CLEARLY — clients gravitate toward those with professionalism and self-respect over those who think a pretty face and a manicure session is enough to carry a career. Or maybe, just maybe, people don’t want to deal with entitlement and drama that is more often (not always but more often) associated with younger providers.
If three 'independent providers you know' ran away, maybe look at who they were surrounded by, including clients who talk the way you do 🤷♀️ and how that energy created a toxic space. You’re not liberating anyone with this post; you’re objectifying, stereotyping, and throwing a tantrum because reality doesn’t match your juvenile expectations.
So take a seat at the children's table. And next time, instead of blaming women older, younger, or in between, for your disappointment, maybe reflect on how little you seem to know about respect and professionalism in an adult world. Just a suggestion though. 😘
