Any guide lines of safe areas and those that need to be avoided ?

Simple. Avoid incalls in low income housing or apartments area.

Sounds like socioeconomic profiling to me !

Sounds like sane advice to me

Totally agree.

There's an "area" in uptown you won't catch me dead in...
But yeah, the low rent districts are asking for trouble. Time of day or night can pretty important too.

i call it how i see it.
your telling me, you feel safe going into a low income apartment with a bunch of people just sitting out smoking weed with nothing good to do?
i'll be worried about drawing some attention to myself and then having them press up on me asking some dumb shit or my car being vandalized.

Agreed.  The ability to detect and learn from patterns is one of the reasons that humans made it to the top of the food chain.

Several official and unofficial websites track crimes.

What is the scary area in uptown?

Ok, I'm not that familiar so might have expanded uptown to what should have been south Mpls.
For me, that whole area is a cluster fuck and would much rather visit the burbs. In fact, I just have avoid the whole area cuz in my book, it's high risk or higher risk.

Uptown in the middle of broad daylight is arguable safe. Based on observations, I would argue that in the late evening/at night, most people tend to go stay out our around the west of Hennepin in the residential areas near the lake and the restaurants, etc. OR they go out on the main drags like Lake Street (East Bde Maka Ska Pkwy to Lyndale) or Lagoon (from Humboldt to Lyndale) or on Hennepin (from Lagoon to W. 31st St). And they don't really veer from those areas.

People argue what the exact boundaries of Uptown are. The reality is the area is an amalgam of different neighborhoods. A map would indicate Uptown is comprised of the neighborhoods of Uptown (east of Bde Maka Ska / re: Calhoun), Lowry Hill East, Calhoun Isles, and the western part of Lyn-Lake and a little bit of ECCO so basically the neighborhoods surrounding Hennepin from about W. 24th St (north boundary) to W. 32nd St. (south boundary) and E. Bde Maka Ska Pkwy (west boundary) to Bryant Ave. S (east boundary).

If you equate police presence to safety, then in the area, especially around the L&B in Uptown and the Target, there have been more officers around.

They just cancelled the Uptown Art Fair.

I like getting down on the 3rd but could do the same in any precinct. But here is the crime for all of June (27th cut-off date) for the 3rd. You see that they don't include Shotspotter stats in it. One night in June, Shotspotter picked up about 35 rounds in a ten-block area...south. Within minutes

June monthly totals so far 3rd precinct-wide:
2 homicides
6 rapes
44 robberies
72 aggravated assaults
60 burglaries
233 larcenies
128 theft from auto
97 auto thefts
2 arsons

Uptown art fair closed.
I hope that nobody goes to or drives by the  "murder station."
If I were Northpond Partners, I would rethink that property on that busy corner.
The higher-ups have given some word to street cops to stand down. A lot of legal reasons behind that
I see in some other areas, they have gone down to one per patrol car. It could be the time of the day.
