'Need help with this one....

I just made contact(via phone) with a provider I suspect may be LE. I requested something specific and she stated a price. I chickened out 10 mins later and left a voice mail(she wouldn't pick up) indicating I had never been with an escort before and didn't feel right so I couldn't go through with it.

Never heard back, but they have my cell and I suspect know who I am.

Can they come after me if I didn't actualy follow-through?

thanks!

If it was LE and they contact you, the biggest thing to remember is no matter what they say, don't answer their questions.  Don't lie but anything beyond identifying yourself you should answer that you will have to speak with your attorney first.

Advice...

#1 read what Vorlon wrote

#2 re-read what Vorlon wrote

#3 you were smart and used a pre-paid hobby phone, right? toss away the phone.

What makes you suspect they were LE?

1) She referenced a TER review that was in stark contrast to her 'offerings'(pics were different as well)
2) She kept asking how much I was willing to pay
3) Things just didn't seem right - back feeling.

No - it was my personal cell(stupid in retrospect I know).

Just need to understand if they can come after me even though I never showed?

REALLY nervous here.

I actually changed my cell(for whatever good that'll do)

'Losing sleep over this as I haven't been able to figure out if I actually broke the law since I didn't meet her.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

If it was LE, they can try in the hopes that you will do or say something stupid that they can build a case on.  So, if you do hear from LE, just remember you absolutely should exercise your right to remain silent and have legal counsel.  Based on what I have heard and read (and I am certainly no lawyer so take this for what it's worth), I am dubious that what you did is enough for them to bother.  I also doubt this was LE as I think LE would be clever enough not to reference a review/profile that did not match the ad and what you talked about with her.

Good advise but do you have to give up any personal info to activate it? I assume you buy with cash and activate on-line. Thanks for the info.

Bad sign. real bad.

if they got you  on tape discussing price, maybe you should really see a a lawyer.

then again, maybe you're just a normally paranoid type of person.

Yep.  Unless you're caught in the act... not sure what they can do.  I personally wouldn't worry too much.

There are only two replies to any LE question:  Am I free to go?  Am I under arrest?  Say NOTHING else.

Consulting an attorney may put your mind at rest or prepare you for what could be coming.

When I bought my trac-phone I activated it from another phone. They try  to get personal info from you but you don't have to give it to them or you could make it up.

As far as LE is concerned, you could have just been having fun calling up a pro and never intended to go any further.

I personally think we do the stupidist things when we are paranoid!

I would not worry about it UNTIL and UNLESS they come calling or knocking on your door. IF they do that, ZIP THE LIP and ask for an attorney.
You will be okay if you follow this advice.

I would think they have enough people who actually schedule the appt and follow through than to worry about a few who call and don't follow through.  But, as always, I could be wrong.

Just my .02 cents.

Most likely a ripoff artist of a girl. I agree that LE has bigger fish to fry, your calling back and cancelling was the thing to do and changing your phone probably a good thing but now get a pay as you go phone, heck I think I activated mine from it??? It has been a while but I remember it being way simpler than I expected and I did not give up any personal info at all.

I have had a similar expieriance and nothing ever came of it... But I do have an untraceable "hobby phone". I once called a similar ad but got texted back with similar questions, I started answering some and then as it progressively felt worse, cut it off and when I got a text asking if I was coming over, just answered that I was not and never heard another thing.

I don't think you need to talk to an attorney now unless you think that would help you sleep better. Othwise follow Vorlon's sage advice and you can allways get an attorney later if need be... Althought you might do a little reasearch and have a decission made who you would call if the need arose. And then you could program that into your new phone:-)

But again, you are your own worst enemey right now, mellow out. Maybe even go see a well reviewed local lady and get a nice backrub, etc. Let her work out all those kinks and get some of those evel juices out of you!lol Then go get a good nights sleep.

Sage advise I'll certainly remember. In the event(hopefully not) this was LE, any idea how long it'd be before they approached me? 'Just wondering when I can start breathing again.

Thanks!

Did you discuss "how much you were willing to pay" for her time? Too vague, too little evidence for a case.

Did you discuss "how much" for a specific sex act? Could be trouble, but not worth prosecuting if you never followed through.

MY gut feeling is that you're a newbie and, understandbly so, paranoid, but that this will pass without incident.

For any possible LE harrassment and for future prudent hobbying, see the good advice already given above.

We can all be paranoid at times.  Myself included.   Honestly, in the situation you described, I probably WOULD be paranoid for a
day or so.  Then, if THEY had not yet pursued it, I would forget it and go about my business.

Yup - I'm 'fairly' new to the hobby. To answer your question, I DID discuss a specific 'act' and price - but again, didn't folow-through. Just don't know if that violates any law or not?

Also wondering how long I need to wait before I vcan consider myself 'safe'? Any thoughts?

Thanks!!

. . . relax just yet. You say you got specific about act and price? Not good. That's propositioning. Think of a guy getting busted for propositioning a street walker. Similar legal issues at work here. That's not good at all.

Lay low for a while, hope the odds are in your favor, and take the time to do some serious reading on the ins and outs regarding these kinds of things. Much has been written for your edification.

Well - the connversation was more like.."Are you open to xxx" and she replied "yes, what would you be willing to pay"
I said, what do you want...and she stated'x amount' and I said that'd be ok.(groan)

Again, as this was not done in person and actually witnessed - isn't that different from the scenario you described?

Thanks!
