I guess it says something about the values of our culture when we put johns on billboards -- a modern version of the stockades -- but allow, for example, rapists to go through the criminal justice system in relative anonymity. This is what happens when we base our laws on religion rather than on the increasingly difficult task of keeping our citizens safe.
This is just out there.
Man, where is all this self-righteousness coming from?! I hate to sound like a cliche machine, but aren't there other more pressing issues?
How bad would that suck if your picture was up there for everyone (wife/girlfriend/kids/boss) to see?
I'm not sure it is as much self-righteousness, as it is self-promoting. We have a lot of politicians and LE that want to prove to the people that they are making this city safer. We know that this is Bull Shit, but the general public does not have a clue. they think the streets are safer.
Quite frankly, my picture up there would cost me a $$$$$$$ so, yes it would suck.
Like the St. Paul site, it looks like they are focusing on street prostitution. They will probably throw in some well-advertised craigslist stings.
There is always some risk, but if you are seeing established ladies in the 200/hr or above range, I doubt you will end up in the news.
You are correct sir. Stay with the well reviewed ladies.
But I'm sure they won't hesitate to put anyone's info up, regardless of how you get busted and there are occasional busts of people in the higher end of the market.
Finally (though unfortunately), I have a reason to use the red face!

Why don't they concentrate on solving some murders, gang violence and the guns in MPLS?
From the Star-Trib article - "Despite the Minneapolis Police Department's best efforts, the steady stream of johns who come from near and far has consistently outlasted the police resources it takes to arrest them, said Third Precinct Inspector Lucy Gerold. "If you let up for a second, they come back," Gerold said. "There is such a vast number of johns that we couldn't keep up with it, no matter how many resources we have."
OK Ms Gerald, If I understand your point, it amounts to 'street prostitution has and will always exist, we really can't do much about it without a much bigger budget. Otherwise, than if we manage to arrest you, we put your face up in the $200,000 electronic version of stockades, which can really fuck up your life, your family and your job. If you even have those left.'
Ahhh, government morality/hypocrisy police/politicians at their finest, as usual. Its funny how most of those arrested are hispanic, or black. Although I will say this guy's mugshot beats Nick Nolte's.
If they are going to do this than is should include everybody who is arrested for anything.
Why should they single out one misdemeanor offense?
LA
Atlanta
Pittsburgh
there a alot more..
If my picture where up there I would smile. It's no secret. I am however against the ones forced into it, but to deter those crimes, I don't see how a billboard helps.
because the liberals feel those activities are socially more acceptable than Prostitution..because it is always underage, on street corners, drug/pimp related and any other BS you can think of.
There is more than just the economy being stimulated by seeing the ladies
But as usual our shrill-activist types waste time and money on non-effective bullshit... How about if the fucking cops would create a safe way for girls to report and escape abuse? Rather than fucking their lives up worse than the pimps do if they seek help!
After watching Milan flush herself down life's toilet due to a pimp beating her, burning her, taking all the money she made and getting away with it over and over while any help she did try to get left her twisting in the wind and vulnerable for retaliation, I realize what these head-in-ass types at the gov/activist level don't seem to ever catch on to... Which is that this is a culture issue with young black males and their multi-generational belief that girls rank just below cattle and that it's ok to exploit them for financial gain...
Trouble is, is they put up pimp-billboards society would have to face the TRUTH that these things are infact race-based, whereas by putting up ONLY the pictures of the "Johns" they get more pictures of the race they want to demonize...
(Not to say there aren't white-pimps out there somewhere, but it's a small small minority!)
I was just talking to a psychologist female friend of mine about this. In passing without her knowing my involvement of course.
Showing pimp and john photo's would be much more effective to take the "pretty woman" persona away from young girls minds. Even showing photo's of girls taken from a beating would have more effect.
The current Minneapolis org low-life pictures from street busts won't do a thing. If you've seen the photo's, these guys probably don't care either way and very few look like the upper class white guys you'd think were on there. If they started including subburban bust photo's, then you'd see white middle aged hobbyists caught in stings. Effecting the shame factor.
Go check out what they have for john photo's and you'll see what I mean.
I suspect the billboard will be an extention of the website... Notice how NONE of the men on this site have been charged with any woman-abuse, which is always the sob-story the zealots use to justify their "activism", yet miss their targets by a mile with their half-assed efforts...
So this is where our tax money is going? DAM!!
They should just legalise it. End of story. Damn near every other place in the world it is legal. However, this is the USA where its a monstrosity to see a womans breast on TV!!
I love the US, but when it comes to anything sex this country has issues.
