I know, you should have heard my Grrr to him when I exited my car!  I had to take a few long, deep breaths before the police arrived on the scene so I could (appear) in control of my anger.  Do they actually take a driver's test (road) or just go and get a license upon entering the country?  Maybe answer a couple of questions?

I am not one to dwell on unfortunate events, but I guess sometimes we need a little support in order to feel better.  Here's what's going on...

Two days before I went on an extended vacation, a van turned left in front of me on a snowy street.  I tried to avoid him, turning right but slid into him...with a bang!   My car is in the shop as I write this, with $7,500.00 damage.  Yes, I have insurance, and hopefully won't have to pay the deductible, as it was clearly his fault (I wish the driver, who's country of origin happens to be Somalia, knew our driving rules in this country...you don't turn Left in front of a vehicle, you wait until they pass, and then make the turn.  Especially in winter conditions!!)  God.

Then, while I was on vacation, I dropped my camera and had to buy a new one, as the focus was shot from the shock.  No biggie...

Two days later, I was on a snorkeling/whale watching tour in Maui, on a beautiful sailboat.  I picked up my towel, and my sunglasses flew into the ocean (I had them wrapped inside, keeping them safe while I was swimming off the boat).  They were prescription, polarized sunglasses, and cost more than my camera!  OUCH...

While hanging around the ocean for a month after that, my eyeglasses got a lot of salt spray on them, so with repetitive cleaning (carefully using my soft eyeglass cloth), the salt just did a number on them.  I need new eye glasses now...Youch.  Line less bifocals, not cheap either.

I considered all of these misfortunes as just added expenses of a long trip (well, not the car damage), and was getting better at accepting them as such.  After all, I had two months to "let it go", each indicent at a time.

But then yesterday my laptop hard drive crashed!

Whoa is me.

Alright, I feel better...is that why they call it venting?  Maybe I won't erupt now.

Thank you for letting me blow some steam (I could say something that came to my naughty mind after that line, but you can just use your imagination with that one!).

My experience is that the universe tends to take things away from us when we start to take them for granted or confuse our priorities. The $7,500 car damage forces us to decide how much we really like our car, (repair vs. replace) but also to consider our good fortune that it was only the car that was damaged. The same goes with the camera, as you were able to reassess what you needed in a camera (or IF you needed one) and choose the features you need now, not what was important when you bought the broken one. As for the glasses (both pairs) I think your assessment is spot on: just collateral damage in enjoying life to its fullest. Given the opportunity to spend time in the sun, on and near the ocean is worth countless pairs of glasses. The hard drive: you’ll find that most of what was lost was just clutter. The valuable stuff you’ll be able to recapture.
Indeed, the universe is telling you something: You are an amazing and beautiful woman with a fantastic life, great health, and many friends. All the rest is superfluous

The Somali's I know are all very genuinely nice people. But when it comes to their ability to operate a motor vehicle...don't get me started. Grrrrrr.

there is either no snow or no Somalians.  My guess it will be easier to avoid the snow.

I know, I thought about that after posting my troubles.  I am grateful for the chance to get away in the sun.  You all had a hell of a winter here!  But, when my computer crashed, I started to think "WTF is going on here?"

We'll have to celebrate when Spring finally does come!

With a somali driver ... scared the bejesus out of me ...

Sometimes when I get that kind of stuff back-to-back I start to God's somewhere laughing his head off... then I start to laugh too ... at least until the guys with the rubber jackets show up...

The good news is you got several months of stuff out of the way... the odds are now in your favor for a while ... wait a week and hit the casino
