I'm wondering if this will help me feel better, considering that support is what I need, not the unhealthy alternative of a good, stiff drink.  

A client who I've seen in the past (it's been a couple of years, I recognized his name) booked an appointment one day in advance for today after work.  He said he'd be here at 4:30, and I agreed.  

Well, at 4:10 today, I got an email from him asking for directions (I didn't see the email until 4:35, when checking to see if he left a contact number, so I could ask where he was).

I just assumed that he knew where I was located, since he didn't ask (we emailed back and forth about 4 times about things).  

He left me his cell number in the email asking for directions, so I called it at 4:36, to no avail.  Then, I tried again a couple minutes later, and finally texted him on the number.  

He did call me, saying that we must have had phone tag issues.  

I asked him if he was on his way, and told him that he should have asked directions yesterday, that I assumed he knew where my place was.  Well, he knew the general location, cuz he's been here before, so I told him.

But, it was late already, and he was sill at least 30 min. away!!

I had to cancel a personal engagement that was at 6:00 in order to see this client, plus, I turned away two other prospective clients that were interested in seeing me today.  

Then, the guy NCNS!!!

I guess he missed out, and I did, too (in more than one way....)

I guess I'm lucky, this doesn't happen very often, but some people have no integrity.  

That character quality is one that I uphold.  To the end, and wish others did, as well.

Alantra   I think it"s the clients job to make sure he has directions.  Some times I worry that ladies think I"m a pest because I make it such a point.  Maybe even though it shouldn"t be on you, if you asked if a guy needed directions it would stop you from having this kind of trouble.  When I visited you your directions were spot on.

How can someone submit a review after not showing up for an appointment, late???

He did not call to say he'd be late.  I informed him that I would cancel my personal engagement (for 6:00) to see him at 5:30 instead of the appointment time of 4:30??!

OK, I'm done whining....time to move forward to more positive ventures...more considerate people.  

I'm over it.

Yes, I should have asked if he needed directions.  Never assume....

The last minuteness of the whole arrangement was not how I like to operate, but considering that I had seen him in the past, I did not ask.  

I think the trouble was when he did finally call me, it was past our set appointment time, and he wasn't even close to my city yet, but at least 35-40 min. away!  When I mentioned to him that it would have been nice to know his time frame earlier, he must have said, "screw her", (I had someone coming a half hour after his appointment was to be over).  

I told him that I sometimes have a tight schedule, and need to know when people are running almost an hour late!  So, it screwed up my entire afternoon schedule, and then he didn't show up, anyway!!

But, thank you for the response.  Next time....lesson learned

It would have to be a fake.  I would think he could get banned for that.

I don't mean to be a naysayer, nor am I trying to excuse his side of things...

But I think both of you bear some responsibility in this matter.  Also, it's not a "NCNS" in the strictest sense, because he did contact you 30 minutes before the session and you did not get back to him until after the session was to start.

Should he have asked for directions earlier?  Yes.  Should you have offered?  Yes.  

I know it sucks to block off time for someone that doesn't show up, but I think both parties were lax in ensuring that the appointment happened as scheduled.  Especially when you have to be secretive about your location, and there is no other way to get it other than direct from you.

This doesn't mean you have to like it, or even be willing to see him again.. but my personal opinion is that when i'm at least partially to blame for a situation, regardless of whether the other party is as well, then I can't hold them responsible.

But that's just me.

Probably one of the reasons some double-book so that they don't get caught with downtime.  You might want to institure a policy of reconfirmation of an appt an hour before the alloted time and if a guy doesn't call, then his loss.  

Sorry this happened to you.  Common courtesy should prevail.  What a dumbass.

at least you give directions prior...I hate it when, we have to do a scavanger hunt to the area and they 2 more calls fo get waved in
