I can see your line of thought.  Looking at Scott's pictures many times, he makes really professional use of varying lenses, focal lengths, filters, etc.

Photoshop can only get you so far.  As an amateur photo guy/nerd -- nowhere near Scott's ability -- I've taken some amazing portraits with just a good balance of lighting, lenses, etc.  It's amazing the effect you get with a 50mm prime all the way open at 1.8, the bokeh is amazing and can give that nice fuzzy look that is so well done in many portraits.

What I believe Scott has is two things: an appreciation of the women for exactly who they are, and an uncanny ability to capture them on film in that manner.  That's just something you don't get in school -- nose to the grindstone and see where your fate leads you.

Photoshop does not have a plugin for that just yet.  :)

This guy, (I'm assuming it is a guy) has his name on so many of the beautiful gals pictures! Renee, Sophie, Giamarie, Diana to name a few. Is there a "special" photography school one can go to get my name on pictures like that?
Must admit, there are some very nice shots!
Take a bow Scott Church.

Scott Church is AMAZING, as you can see.  He's a visionary, an artist and a truly fun dude to work with.

Tell me that "just any photog" could take a shot like this and I'll be proud to prove you wrong...

Again right on the head with your comment.  The photos are about the art, the woman...not about the .......

Scott Church is a very well known photographer and, I suspect, he helped one of the ladies out and got some good word of mouth.

well, the way i did it was to work my ass off for 20 years doing the best possible images for anyone who would allow me to take their photograph, not to mention showing my work in gallery shows around the world, publishing six books of my work, and generally getting my images out there everywhere i could possibly show them.

then, after doing all that, you can pretty much wait for the people to find you, if they like your work, they will let you photograph them.

of course then you have to do a good job with each and every one of them, because your reputation is only as good as the client you are working with today, everything you have done before is completely worthless the minute you fuck up and let someone down.

i still try my best everyday to make everyone happy with what i do for them, because of that i continue to have people to work with.

And it shows through in the pictures. Can you see how happy we all are in the shots? Scott captures the power of being a woman and presents it in a way that is meaningful to all.

Thank you Scott.

Hugs,
Renee East

Although I asked, I never expected you to say yes.

So glad you did though!

You rock.

I know little about photography but yours has a certain style that I am beginning to recognize it before I see the name in lower right corner.

if you have the ability to lick your own eyebrows.

An airbrushed Glamour Shots photo gallery sure is shiny and fancy... but there's something to be said for the DIY WYSIWYGers who would rather hear "You look even hotter in person!" than the dreaded "You don't look quite like your photos..."

Just my .02 of course...

..on my blog.

I think both are nice for comparison..

Scott does very little photoshopping and, in my opinion, would much rather let the light and angles tell the story, as he did in a photo recently that I was quite impressed with.

Thank goodness there's something for everyone.

Some people like professional photos, others like candid or do-it-yourself photos. And there are those like me who enjoy both. Neither is right or wrong, or that important to use a stressed out/confused smiley face. LOL.

I suspect you're a provider. Feel free to stick to your marketing plan and let others approach theirs as they see fit. There's enough room for us all to do as we please without judgment from others.

A good photographer will be able to capture the subject's look without retouching them into someone they are not. You can have professional photos that are WYSIWYG. The day someone tells me I look nothing like my photos is the day I will agree that having professional photos equates to glamorized fakes. To be honest, every professional photo on my site (with the exception of Scott Church's) were not retouched. And Scott did do some retouching, but only to enhance the photos rather than make me not look like me.

And maybe its overrated to you, but some people are tired of seeing the unflattering photos several Minneapolis providers post of themselves, a trend that is not popular in many larger cities. None of us are perfect, and you can have hideous cellulite or outrageously sagging breasts but not make that the focus of ALL of your photos just because you think you're keeping it real or WYSIWYG. Of course, there's something for everyone. So feel free to post shots as you see fit. And some of us will cater to those men who like the polished look with occasionally do-it-yourself photos to assure the men we look like our professional photos.

There is something for everyone. And I can assure you that there are many men who enjoy the polished look. I once read somewhere that the economy may take a dive, but if you polish up your marketing skills, you won't have to worry about it. All I can say is thank goodness there are many men who enjoy the polished look as part of a provider's marketing plan...

And thank you for your continued business. I am so grateful that its truly beyond words.

Xoxo.

..."presentation is everything."

Think of your favorite restaurant. If they are catering to patrons who can pay well over $300 for a service, they present their restaurant in a polished manner from their zagat reviews to their website and in person when you enter their door. They put forth effort when presenting their service in hopes to appeal to their perspective patrons. Of course they would be idiots to present a polished restaurant on their website, but offer a shitty look, service or ambiance in person. This is why some providers use photographers who don't overly retouch the photos so when the gents arrive to their doors, they are still the ladies in their pictures.

Remember, reviews are there to confirm if the provider's photos are accurate and indeed WYSIWYG. Use those if you aren't sure a provider looks like her professional photos. That's what reviews are there for.

"Presentation is everything."

Peace and love.

A professional photoshoot can be very motivational :)

Just one providers perspective...

hey scott, sorry I was out of town for your last shoot, I love your work. Am I slow because I dont know what WYSIWY is? I do hope to have some pics with you in the future as I looove taking pics!

I have seen a change over the 5+ years that I have seen you. You are looking better than ever! That is wonderful.

I did a little research on Mr. Scott and found his photography to be stunning. I'm convinced that years and years of hard work is now paying off. It does take an "eye" to catch a person that represents a client and he obviously does well with that. I have studied photography to an extent and have some fine equipment, yet I am not able to take pictures like that. (maybe I need models! hint, hint).
I have now seen his work with all kinds of people and they are not fake. I could give you a well known provider for example, that every photo was "worked over" but she is no longer around.
Take for example, Rodney Lough Jr., his work when studied is very camera oriented and not photo shopped from my knowledge.
When you have an eye for what you want and an ability to achieve that, you are gifted in that art.
All as I can say is that I have seen 50% of the ladies that he has shot in the Minneapolis area and that photograph is what you will get! All women area beautiful in their own way. He just seems to find that way.

I noticed something different when I last visited Renee's websight. I often like to check out her websight because she has such an eclectic view of things. I thought Scott's photos of Renee were a new dimension. I spent 27 years doing commercial photography, and was quite impressed with Scott's websight portfolio. I hope he gets lucky every now and then.

He's the consummate professional and I've never heard of him being less than professional with any provider...and he always has his female assistant on hand.

That's what really makes Scott a star in a sea of opportunistic, leering escort photographers.  He doesn't treat us like a piece of meat during the photoshoots; he's concentrating on making great images that he likes and that we like.

While Scott Church is an amazing photographer, and I myself being a professional photographer, I can admire his work. But, here's an additional thought for providers to consider. There are many local photographers who are extremely talented and can produce images that are of the same caliber as Scott's. Why not look at home for some of your photo needs? Its kind of like supporting a local provider vs. a traveling provider from out of town. I'm not looking to open a can of worms here but, just want to raise awareness of own own local talent. I'm in no way looking to bad mouth Scott or any other photographer that travels into our area. Scott is definitely at the top of his game. I just want to make providers aware that there is wealth of local talent too.

If you can take quality photos, (the caliber of Scott Church) offer excellent instruction of poses, offer an outstanding make-up artist for a minimal fee, and provide a disc of all the pictures (including the touched up ones) in 3 hours for 3 hundred bucks, I'll hire you.

Please send me your information via pm. I'm always looking for local talent.
