It's the "legit" part of your statement that answers your own question. Would any of those service people you mention consent to do their services in the nude for more money? Why not? Or pop a cock in their mouth for a few minutes? What's the big deal? Because it IS a big deal. Those service people would be laughed out of town.

In our society, us providers can tell NOBODY what we do for a living and NOTHING that goes on in the job for fear of:

Reprisals - from pissed women, calling us names, trying to shame us, maybe physically hurting us. From men, same but also trying to rape us (she must love sex, she does it for a living)  

Getting kicked out of where we live and/or work because of angry neighbors.  

And jail time and definitely court time, penalties, a criminal record making regular work impossible.  

And getting kicked out of families, losing friends, living a pretty isolated existence.  

So yeah, we charge a lot. The only professionals that charges similarly are doctors and lawyers.  

And we do both, we listen closely to your woes and wails, give advice (sometimes good - I gave a client the name of an invention he created which he markets it under now) and we give you sexual healing.

Please think about that this holiday season.

Why discount appointments? Discuss...

The Christmas time is busy for many clients and so opportunities to get away dwindle. Now if a provider has a lot of time available and gets one appointment at her rate May quite easily double that with a fifty or 100 dollar discount.  
Using your TER rate instead of $350 would make $500 or six hundred. The downside of this is that it might be a client you would have had at full rate or worse yet mayn have established a lower rate with clients waiting for the next special . in the hobby the things that drive the market

If that is the case, you might want to think about lowering your everyday rates.  Most economists and CEO’s are predicting a rough 2023 with continued rate increases and massive corporate layoffs.  Might be smart for ladies to get ahead of the ball and build a loyal client base that will be there for rough economic times.

To get enough business. That surely is the only reason.
There are 3 wonderful women who I would see once a week had they not raised prices to a minimum of $600/hr.
I have seen each of them about 10 times and I miss them.
They could have had the $2,000 a month or more I spend since I stopped seeing them 4 months ago.
But they are lusting after the big bag, even when it's relatively rare, though basic math will tell you that regularity beats periodic windfalls every time.
So there's a subordinate but similar reason to discount -- to keep regulars.
The business failure of providers to give incentives to regulars they don't have to worry about or screen, and would like to keep, amazes me.  
How about this:
Either, "My rate for regulars is $xxx. If we haven't met before, there is an additional cost of $xxx to cover time spent in admin and screening."
Or, "Over the Christmas season I'm offering $xxx discount to select friends, in particular those I don't have to screen."
If there are people on that list who you don't want to see, I'm sure you can avoid them.
God I wish I had lady parts. I'd make a fortune.

Discounts are a marketing approach to improve sales. Nobody offers discounts if sales are good enough.

People passively aggressively telling you how to run your business.
Discuss.

Two comparable reviewed providers in looks and menu and one is $$$ and one is $$$$.
Guess who gets the date request and many others if she has the available time to take on others.
Let a provider who is better looking with a better menu set a rate of$$$$$$ and she has eliminated the majority of the client pool.

Prices are too high, your customers are going broke between the current stock market and inflation. Personally, I am doing sugar dating and amps mostly, escorts are too expensive.  But thanks for posting this, we should all discuss the topic.

I would think a more likely explanation is to increase income at this time (which doesn't have to be tied to the holidays) even if each individual appointment is not as profitable.
